FROM OUR PASTOR, FR. MATTHEW ZUBERBUELER / DE NUESTRO PÁRROCO PADRE MATTHEW ZUBERBUELER

Dear Friends,

One of most striking examples of how real and personal the love of God is can be seen in the way He calls men and women to give themselves totally to Him in the service of the Church. The mystery of the personal vocation we receive from God is one which reveals His activity in individual lives and, at the same time, His concern for the Church for the years ahead.

I have never worked directly in the work of Vocations, like is done in the Office of Vocations. People who serve in that way learn to see certain signs of how God moves and works in the willing (and sometimes not so willing) hearts of people He in-vites to serve the Church in particular ways. While there are some recognizable signs and themes, the call of God is always suited to the unique person being called. It is a special, a very special reality.

We can say that God’s call to each of us is special, of course. I hope that each of you can recall something of the way God reached you to accept the quest for holiness which is our privi-lege to share with Him. Last Sunday we celebrated that call and the beauty of the Saints in Heaven. This Sunday we conclude the celebration of Vocations Awareness Week. I was so happy to see our Fourth Graders in their Saints costumes at the School Mass on Monday. How different our world would be if our hope and desire for every young person, and, indeed, for every person, were that they become Saints. There is nothing more alive and new than the expression in our lives of the holiness and love of God. Each person expresses it differently. Each personal expression of His love raises up and helps everyone, everywhere.

Is it evident today that our world is ready for a revival of the value we place on learning to live as if Heaven is our goal? Can the joys of Heaven begin here and now? At least it is worth a try. Pray for Vocations. Live your Vocation.

With my prayers,

Fr. Matthew ZuberbuelerPastor

Queridos amigos,

BAPTISMS / BAUTIZOS

Confessions are being heard in the meeting rooms down the hall to the right of the main entrance to the church in Rooms 8, 9 and 10. We are using these rooms so that the prescribed social distancing rules can be observed for your protection and ours.

A brief Communion Service will be offered on the courtyard at 9:00 am Monday-Saturday and at 10:00 am on Sundays.

All baptisms and baptism classes are back on schedule. They will require the same guidelines and restrictions for social dis-tancing as attending Mass at St. Anthony. Call the parish office between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. Baptism dates and registration forms are available on our parish website under the “Sacraments”

REMINDER that masks are required to attend Mass and are to be worn throughout the Mass. At Communion we strongly encourage receiving on the hand and removing mask temporarily to consume the Host. Some have stayed away from Mass because they fear these precautions are not being observed by others.

Remember that it is an act of kindness and charity to do what helps another.

SPIRITUAL COMMUNION

My Jesus, I believe you are truly present inthe Blessed Sacrament.

I love you more than anything in the world, and I hunger to feed on your flesh. But since I cannot receive communion at this moment, feed my soul at least spiritually. I unite myself to you now as I do

when I actually receive you.Never let me drift away from you.

AMEN

WHO WAS THE 2ND POPE?

ANSWER:

If you listen carefully to Eucharistic Prayer I, after the list of names of the Apostles you'll hear Linus, Cletus, and Clement. They were the 2nd, 3rd and 4th popes who were all martyrs.
