The two new words…
In English, when we use a word a lot, we tend to say it faster and faster every time we use it.
When we say it faster and faster, eventually we start to leave out parts of the word, so we can say it even faster.
Example: I am not… I amn’t… I an’t… ain’t
In Spanish, the same thing can occur.

We used to say “Your Grace” when we talked to people of nobility*.Spanish people used to say “Vuestra Merced”Over time, “Vuestra Merced” became “Usted”Usted, therefore is used when talking to an adultThere is also a plural, for adults: Ustedes.It is not uncommon to see them written with V’s. They can also be abbreviated: Ud. or Uds.; (or Vd. or Vds.)

Your Grace is one person. therefore we use the el/ella form
Your Graces is more than one person. Therefore we use the ellos/ellas form.
