Hunng is a tradional pasme in Alaska. There are many reasons to hunt our own food like enjoying
the outdoors and being acve. It is likely less expensive to hunt and process your own meat than

hunter knows what is in that meat. Another reason that somemes gets overlooked is nutrion.
It is o en said that wild meat is much be!er than beef we purchase at the store. But in what ways are wild meats be!er?
  !!" "
less cholesterol than beef. It also has a high concentraon of polyunsaturated fat which helps lower a person’s blood
cholesterol. Lower fat makes the meat less calories and is be!er for a heart healthy diet. These benefits are due to the
higher acvity of wild animals and their natural diet. For a detailed nutrional value chart specifically for Alaskan anim"
contact Alaska’s Department of Fish and Game or look at the website: www.adfg.alaska.giv/index.cfm?adfg=hunng.eang
In addion to being leaner, wild game is organic, anbioc free and hormone free. Wild animals are pure and have not
been injected with hormones or anbiocs to make them bigger. When processing your own game meat, you also know
that there haven’t been any dyes added for color, chemicals added for preservaon, or fillers added for increased weight.
If you are one who hunts as a family tradion, to find less expensive meat, or as a way to enjoy Alaska you can rest assure
that the nutrional value and benefits of your meat is an added perk.
