BOOT / STEMCHANGING VERBS

Boot Verbs / Stem changing verbs are verbs that are irregular in the present tense.

These verbs have a change in the stem of the verb. Jugar: Jug is the stemThe change must always occur with a

vowel.

The different type of stem changes can be: o-ue, e-ie, u-ue, and e-i.

BOOTS / STEM CHANGERS CONT. The stem change occurs in all forms of the

verbs EXCEPT nosotros and vosotros. Nosotros and vosotros are conjugated normally.

Once you do the stem change, just add the normal endings for AR, ER, and IR verbs.

BOOT VERB EXAMPLES. Por Ejemplo:

1. Jugar - to play a sport or game: u-ue2. Querer - to want: e-ie3. Poder - to be able to: o-ue4. Dormir: - to sleep: o-ue

EJEMPLOS… Ella juega al tenis en la cancha. Marco y Julian quieren el helado para el

postre. Yo puedo cantar y bailar. ¿Duermes muy tarde los fines de semana?

Mis amigos y yo jugamos al baloncesto. Mi familia y yo queremos viajar. Vosotros podéis bailar en España.

What do you like to do in your free time?

Write a 12 line dialogue with your partner (6 lines each) discussing what you like to do in your free time.Use the preguntas importantes as a guide for this dialogue. Use greetings and farwells with partner. Use new and old vocabulary. Include with whom you do things with. Each person must use 2 frequency words.

PROYECTO You and your partner will present this to the

class. It will count as an assignment grade. Presentations will start today and roll over

into the next class. You are allowed to have your dialogue sheet

with you, just try and not read straight off the sheet.
