Programa Jueves 29 de octubre Apertura 9:45-10:00 (Auditorio del CIMAT) José Luis Marroquín Invstigador Invitado 10:00– 12:00 AM (Auditorio del CIMAT) Daniel Alexander University College of London Título: Imaging Brain Connectivity and Microstructure with Diffusion MRI Prof. Daniel Alexander graduated from Oxford University in Mathematics in 1993, then moved to University College London (UCL) for a masters in Computer Science followed by a PhD in Computer Vision supervised by Prof. Bernard Buxton. He was a post-doc at the GRASP Lab, University of Pennsylvania, from 1998 to 2000 where he worked with Profs. Ruzena Bajcsy and Jim Gee. There he became interested in medical imaging and specifically diffusion MRI. He returned to UCL in 2000 to take a junior faculty position in the Department of Computer Science. He was promoted to senior lecturer in 2005, reader in 2007 and full Professor of Imaging Science in 2009. He now runs a group of 10 researchers working broadly on quantitative MRI of the human brain and body. His group is one of the five main groups in the Centre for Medical Image Computing at UCL headed by Prof. David Hawkes.

Refrigerio 12:00-12:30 AM (Zona de seminarios del CIMAT)

Invstigador Invitado 12:30 – 2:00 PM (Auditorio del CIMAT) Rolando Biscay Academia de Ciencias de Cuba Titulo: Causal Analysis in Neuroimaging. Recent theoretical advances in the semantics and mathematical expression of causal modelling and inference are reviewed. On this framework, a critical discussion and assessment is carried out concerning models and measures of causal influence that are currently used for the analysis of neuroimages, including measures derived from the concepts of Granger's causality and Akaike's relative spectral power.

Comida 2:00 – 3:00 PM (Balcón Principal del CIMAT)

Invstigador Invitado 3:00 – 5:00 PM (Auditorio del CIMAT) Jorge Armony McGill University Título: fMRI experimental design and analysis: The basics and beyond. Jorge Armony obtained his first degree in Physics from the Universidad de Buenos Aires, Argentina, followed by a M.Sc. in Theoretical Physics from New York University, USA. He then switched fields, completing a Ph.D. in Neural Science at NYU and postdoctoral training in Oxford University and University College London, UK. In 2002 he joined the Douglas Mental Health University Institute and McGill University, where is currently Associate Professor in Psychiatry and holds the Canada Research Chair in Affective Neuroscience. His main research interest is the neurobiology of emotional processing in healthy humans and in clinical and neurological populations. To study this, he and his team employ behavioral, physiological and neuroimaging techniques, particularly functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI).
