It is truly amazing to see the incredible progress be-

ing made each day by our students from our TK and Kin-

dergarten classes all the way to grade five! During the

month of October our students will be completing our

fall Benchmark assessments to show their parents and

teachers how well they are mastering the state content

standards, also known as Common Core. Let’s continue to

encourage each of them as we approach the end of our

first Trimester.

Interview with Ms. Lea Sanchez

What is your favorite color? White is the best color, it’s a calming color

and it feels fresh and crisp. What is your favorite movie? Little Shop of Horrors, it’s a comedy & a musi-

cal. What else could you ask for? What is your favorite book? It's hard to pick, but To Kill a Mockingbird is

amongst my favorite books. What is your favorite place? I am happiest under any shade on a hot day, with a cool breeze Who is your hero? My independent, strong, and brave mother is my

hero. What is your favorite holiday? My favorite holiday is Christmas because it’s a

month long celebration filled with yummy food

and parties. My husband and I celebrate it with

friends, family, and coworkers so the celebra-

tions last for weeks! Why do you like working at NASA? I love working at NASA because I truly admire

our school's mission. I also enjoy being able to

contribute to this community, whose kids and

parents resemble the faces and cultures of the

people in my own upbringing.

Get in on the fun. Accompany trick-or-treaters younger than age 12. Pin a piece of paper with your child’s name, address and phone number inside your child’s pocket in case you get sepa-rated. Encourage older kids to trick or treat with a group of friends, parents or older siblings. Make sure someone in the group has a flashlight with fresh batteries.

Set ground rules. If your child will be trick-or-treating without you, plan and discuss a familiar route and set a curfew and review safety rules.

Inspect the treats carefully. Don’t let your child snack while he or she is trick or treating. Feed you children an early meal before heading out, and in-spect the treats before allowing your children to dive in.

Ration the loot. If your child collets a lot of good-ies, dole out a few pieces at a time and save the rest.

Mr. Fran Arauz

Did you know that Mr. Arauz is not only an excel-lent intervention teaching assistant, but also coached a high school soc-cer team to the finals his first year as a coach! I bet you also did not know that Mr. Arauz plays the guitar and collects northern soul vinyl records!

The Artists in Classrooms programs will be a 12 week residencies for every classroom grades one through five, both in fall and in the spring semester. Each classroom will receive 1 hour of instruction time each week. 1st, 3rd and 4th grade will receive visual arts in the fall semester and 2nd, 3rd, and 5th grade in the spring. 2nd grade will receive dance in fall and 1st grade in the spring. 5th grade will receive creative writing in fall and 4th grade in the spring.

Es realmente increíble ver el gran progreso en nuestros

estudiantes de kinder transicional hasta el quinto

grado ! Durante el mes de octubre los estudiantes es-

tarán completando nuestras evaluaciones de referencia

de otoño para mostrar a sus padres y maestros lo bien

que están dominando los estándares del estado , también

conocido como Common Core . Vamos a continuar a animar

cada uno de ellos ya que nos acercamos al final de

nuestro primer trimestre .

Cual es su color favorito? El blanco es el mejor color , es un color que

calma y se siente fresco y crujiente. Cual es su pelicula favorita? Tienda de los horrores , es una comedia y un mu-

sical. ¿Qué más se puede pedir? Cual es su libro favorito? Es difícil elegir , pero How to Kill a Mocking-

bird esta entre mis libros favoritos .

Cual es su lugar favorito? Soy feliz bajo cualquier sombra en un día calu-roso, con una brisa fresca

Quien es su heroe? Mi madre es mi heroe porque es independiente ,

fuerte y valiente.

Cual es su dia festivo favorito? Mi dia festivo favorito es Navidad es un dia\

lleno de comida deliciosa y mi marido y yo lo

celebran con amigos, familiares y compañeros de

trabajo! Porque le gusta trabajar en NASA? Me encanta trabajar en NASA porque realmente ad-

miro la misión de nuestra escuela. También me

gusta poder contribuir a esta comunidad!

Entra en la diversion acompaña a sus hijos/ hijas a trick or treat! Pongla un

pedazo de papel con el nombre, la dirección de su hijo y el número de teléfono dentro de la bolsa de su hijo en caso de que se separen.

Establesca reglas básica si es que su hijo irá trick-or-treating sin usted. Discuta una ruta familiar y establesca unas reglas de seguridad al revisar los dulces.

Alimente a sus niños una cena temprano antes de salir para evitar que se coman los dulces sin re-visarlos.

Su sus ninos logran adquirir muchas golosinas pon-ga un Sistema donde comen pocas a la vez y guar-dan las demas.

Arte con el Centro Cultural de Angels Gate

El proggrama de Centro cultural

dara clases de arte y baile tanto

en el otoño y en el semestre de

primavera. Cada salón recibirá 1

hora de tiempo de instrucción

cada semana. Primero , tercero y

cuarto grado recibirán las artes

visuales en el semestre de otoño

y el segundo , tercero y quinto

grado en la primavera. Segundo

grado recibirán la danza en el

otoño y el 1er grado en la pri-

mavera. 5º grado recibirán la es-

critura creativa en otoño y cuarto

grado en la primavera.

Al final los estudiantes tendran

una presentacion en la cual nos

ensenaran los bailes que han

aprendido.
