  • NEGRITOSEl Carnaval, es una fiesta movible entre fe-brero y marzo.Durante este tiempo se festeja el floreci-miento de los sembrtos de oca, quinua y habas haciendo ofrendas a la Pachamama o ``Madre Tierra``.Al ritmo de pinkillos, tambores y tarolas hombres y mujeres, forman columnas de m~sicos y bailarines que recorren la isla mientras lucen coloridos atuendos. En esta fiesta el varyn exhibe con orgullo las chuspas que le ha tejido su esposa, mientras ella des-pliega las numerosas polleras que le ha brin-dado el marido.

    The carnival is a movable feast, between February and MarchDuring this time, the flowering of the plan-tations of oca, quinoa and broad beans is celebrated, making offerings to the Pacha-mama or Mother Earth.To the rhythm of pinkillos, drums and taro-las, men and women form columns of musi-cians and dancers that go over the island while showing colorful outfits.   • SIKURISEl Siku, es un instrumento de viento formado por caxas alineadas en una o dos hileras. Es tradicio-nal del altiplano y se toca en parejas acompaxa-do de bombos. Varias parejas forman un conjun-to de Sikuris. &on la m~sica y el baile se celebran las cosechas.

    The siku is a wind instrument made of lined up canes in one or two rows. It is traditional of the high $ndean plateau and its played in couples accompanied by bass drums. Several couples make a band of Sikuris. With music and dance, the harvesting is celebrated.

  • CHALE: Es una prenda larga, de color blanco con ltneas negras que forman cuadros. Es para uso exclusivo de los varones que la usan en el cuello si son solteros, en la cintura si son casados. Las autoridades repre-sentantes del Estado (Alcalde, Teniente Gobernador, Juez y Presidente de Comunidad) las llevan sobre el hombro izquierdo,CHALE: its a long piece of clothing.
