God’s will be done Ever pray really hard for something only to be disappointed in the outcome? The let down feels like God isn’t listening. Yet, our way isn’t God’s way. He always listens to our prayers but doesn’t necessarily answer the way we expect. Of course, we know no one is more qualified to lead than our heavenly Father. Doesn’t it make sense to trust him? Don’t be outcome specific. Asking God to double your income may not be reasonable. Instead put your worries in his hands. Know that your Father has your best interest in mind and will find the solution that is just right for you. Be open to alternatives. Sometimes taking a different job or buying a less expensive home is the better choice. You may net more personal time and less overall stress. Let Scripture speak to you. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, on your own intelligence rely not; In all your ways be mindful of him, and he will make straight your paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6).

La voluntad de Dios se cumplirá ¿Ha rezado alguna vez mucho pero se ha sentido decepcionado por el resultado? Quizá piense que Dios no está escuchando. Por el contrario, lo que queremos no es necesariamente

lo que Dios quiere. Siempre escucha nuestras plegari-as, pero no las contesta como nos esperamos. Por supuesto sabemos que nadie hay más capaz de guiar-nos que nuestro Padre celestial. ¿No es lógico que conemos en él? No pidan algo especíco. Pedir le a Dios que nos doblen el sueldo quizá no sea razonable. Por el contrario, pongan en sus manos las preocupaciones que sientan. Sepan que su Padre quiere lo mejor para ustedes y que encontrará la mejor solución para ust-ed. Ábranse a alternativas. A veces la mejor opción es conseguir un trabajo distinto o comprar una casa menos cara. Quizá termine con más tiempo para usted y en general menos estrés. Deje que las Escrituras le hablen. “Confía en el Señor y de todo corazón y no te apoyes en tu propia inteligencia; reconócelo a él en todos sus caminos y él allanará tus senderos” (Proverbios 3:5-6).

Esta última semana nos pareció a muchos de nosotros como un aturdimiento. Imagínese estar en in concierto al aire libre y estar simplemente disfrutando de la vida cuando de repentino in ir y venir de balas en su camino. Es tan inquietante y esta vez no podemos culpar a in enemigo percibido. Estamos aprendiendo pequeños pedacitos de la información sobre el asesino y nada tiene sentido en absoluto. Oremos a Dios por las víctimas, am-bos, vivos y difuntos. Vamos también a orar a Dios por esa paz que el mundo no nos puede dar, la paz que sólo Dios puede dar y podamos cultivar y alimentar entre nosotros He encontrado este pequeño ensayo de Philip Kosloski de Al-eteia.org algo útil y muy apropiado. Nunca supe mucho sobre Santa Difna de Irlanda, muy interesante. De acuerdo al Instituto de Salud Mental, un" estimado de 16.1 millones de adultos" sufren de depresión cada año. La depresión es in problema de salud importante en los Estados Unidos y en todo el mundo, con millones que buscan ayuda de medicamentos antidepresivos y profesionales de la salud mental. El origen de la depresión siempre es complejo y requiere de la atención mé-dica adecuada. Cada persona es única en su lucha y debe abor-dar la enfermedad con el debido cuidado, siguiendo los consejos de los capacitados para tratarlos. En el lado espiritual del asun-to hay muchos santos que pueden invocarse por su ayuda spir-itual. Una Santa en particular es Santa Difna conocida por su intercesión por aquellos que sufren de trastornos mentales, depresión y ansiedad. Nacida en Irlanda durante el siglo VII. Difna era la hija de in cacique pagano y madre Cristiana. Su madre murió mientras Difna era una adolescente y su padre comenzó a hacer avances en Difna que inmediatamente huyó del país. Ella llegó a Bélgica y se alojó en una ciudad llamada Geel. Lleno de rabia, su padre corrió tras ella hasta que la encontró. Difna rechazó los avances continuos de su padre y por eso, él la mató. Durante la Edad Media una Iglesia cubierta de sus reliq-uias fue dedicada a Difna en Geel. Cientos de peregrinos vinieron de toda Europa buscando la cura de sus enfermedades mentales. tin, padre de Santa Teresa de Lisieux sufrió mucho de depresión durante su vida, su intercesión es también buscada por muchos.

From the Pastor’s Desk

This past week seemed to put so many of us in a sorrowful daze. Imagine being at an outdoor concert and simply enjoying life when all of the sudden bullets come your way. It is so unsettling and this time we can’t blame a perceived enemy. We are learning little bits of information about the murderer and nothing makes any sense at all. Let us pray to God for those victims both living and deceased. Let us also pray to God for that peace that the world cannot give, the peace that only God can give so we can cultivate and nourish that Divine peace among us. I found this little essay by Philip Kosloski from Aleteia.org rather helpful and appropriate. I never knew much about St. Dymphna from Ireland, very interesting. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, an “estimated 16.1 million adults” suffer from depression on a year-ly basis. Depression is a major health problem both in the United States and across the globe, with millions seeking help from anti-depressant medications and mental health professionals. The source of depression is always complex and requires the appro-priate medical attention. Each person is unique in their struggle and should approach the disease with due care, following the advice of those qualified to treat it. On the spiritual side of the issue there are many saints who can be invoked to provide their heavenly aid. One saint in particular is St. Dymphna, known for her intercession for those suffering mental disorders, depression and anxiety. Born in Ireland during the 7th century, Dymphna was the daughter of a pagan chieftain and a Christian mother. Her mother died while Dymphna was a teenager and her father began to make advances on Dymphna, who promptly fled the country. She reached Belgium and stayed in a city called Geel. Filled with rage, her father ran after her and searched until he found her. Dymphna refused her father’s continued advances and for that, he killed her. During the Middle Ages a church housing her relics was dedicated to Dymphna in Geel. Hundreds of pil-grims came from all over Europe seeking healing from their men-tal illnesses. Countless miracles were credited to her intercession and the city of Geel became a center for treating mentally ill pa-tients. Treatment centered on the patients having an active part in the life of the town before returning to the hospital at night. It was a groundbreaking community-based treatment that was in stark contrast to the asylums that treated the mentally ill as criminals who needed to be locked up. Here is a short prayer to St. Dymphna to place those suffering mental illness into her loving hands. Good Saint Dymphna, great wonder-worker in every affliction of mind and body, I humbly implore your powerful intercession with Jesus through Mary, the Health of the Sick, in my present need. (Mention it.) Saint Dymphna, martyr of purity, patroness of those who suffer with nervous and mental afflictions, beloved child of Jesus and Mary, pray to Them for me and obtain my request. Other patron saints to invoke are St. Philo-mena, St. Margaret of Cortona, St. Raphael the Archangel and St. Benedict Joseph Labre. Be-cause St. Louis Martin, father of St. Therese of Lisieux, is thought to have suffered from depression during his life, his intercession is also sought by many.
