The Lord has a great sense of humor, as I discovered again when I read the gos- pel for this Sunday, the Sunday we are including the annual parish financial report in the bulletin! Even though the stewardship of our financial resources is only one small part of our gospel mission, the Lord also says: “The person who is trustworthy in very small matters is also trustworthy in great ones.” If you look at our bottom line (purposely printed in red ink) you will see that we are in finan- cial difficulties. Our staff is doing their best to keep costs down, but without a significant increase in revenue we will have to consider making cuts. I would ask you to look over the financial report and pray about what we are called as a community to do in our situation. I trust if we serve the Lord, He will help us deal with the mammon properly! Did you know? The Archdiocese is participating in an independent com-pensation program for victim-survivors of sexual abuse of minors by priests. The Archdiocese of Los Angeles, along with five other dioceses in California, will be participating in an independent program to offer persons who were victims of abuse as minors by diocesan priests, access to compensa-tion as well as access to counseling services if they chose. Those harmed many years ago and barred from filing lawsuits because of civil statutes of limitations will be eligible to make claims under the Independent Compensa-tion Program for Victim-Survivors of Sexual Abuse of Minors by Priests. The Archdiocese’s participation in the program is part of a long-standing commit-ment to supporting and compensating victims of abuse, the protection of chil-dren and the vulnerable, and the prevention of abuse and misconduct in Cath-olic parishes, schools and ministries. Nationally recognized mediators and private compensation program administrators, Kenneth R. Feinberg and Ca-mille S. Biros will administer the program.

Vigésimo Quinto Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario
¿SABÍA USTED? La Arquidiócesis participa en un programa de compensación independiente para víctimas-sobrevivientes de abuso sexual de menores por parte de sacerdotes. La Arquidiócesis de Los Ángeles, junto con otras cinco diócesis en California, participará en un programa independiente que ofrece acceso a compensación y servicios de consejería, si así lo desean, a las personas que fueron víctimas de abuso cuando eran menores por parte de sacerdotes diocesanos. Aquellos que fueron afectados hace muchos años y excluidos de presentar demandas, debido a los estatutos de limitaciones civiles, serán elegibles para presentar reclamos bajo el Programa de Compensación Independiente para Víctimas-Sobrevivientes de Abuso Sexual de Menores por Sacerdotes. La participación de la Arquidiócesis en el programa es parte de un compromiso de largo plazo para apoyar y compensar a las víctimas de abuso, proteger a los niños y a las personas vulnerables, y para prevenir el abuso y la conducta inapropiada en las parroquias, escuelas y ministerios católicos. “No hay criado que pue-da servir a dos amos…En resumen, no pueden ustedes servir a Dios y al dinero.” ¡Que lectura, en este domingo en que compartimos las finan-zas de nuestra parroquia! Pero la verdad es que aunque el cuento de los ingresos y gastos no es lo central de la misión cristiana de nuestra comunidad, es todavía parte de esta misión, y como dice el Señor: El que es fiel en las cosas pequeñas, también es fiel en las grandes. La fidelidad en las fi-nanzas de la parroquia es algo im-portante. Como se puede ver, tene-mos un gran reto en esta área: las figuras rojas nos acuerdan que no tenemos los ingresos necesarios para
seguir con nuestra vida parroquial como es. Hay que buscar una solución, y yo les pido que se fijen en estos datos y pidan al Señor lo que debemos hacer para seguir adelan-te. Queremos servirle al Señor, no al dinero,
¡pero la verdad es que necesitamos usar el dinero para servir a los de-más en Cristo!
Durante el tiempo de Danish Days hay que honrar la herencia danesa de Solvang, y pedirle al Señor su bendi-ción sobre todos los que viven aquí o visitan nuestro valle. ¡Qué San Oscar, apóstol de Dinamarca, nos bendiga! ¡Paz y Bien!
