    Product Evolution

    In the 1970s and 1980s there were thousands ofrigidly-coupled CVA pumps sold especially forgas plants and small process plants.

    In the 1990s the CVA8 evolved to utilize thenewer hydraulics of the CAP8 and added thebearing housing.

    The OHV improves upon many of the CVA8features by incorporating the same shaft, seal andbearings from the rugged OHH. All but a fewlarger size OHV pumps use the OHH impellersand wear parts as well.

    Per ISO 13709 (API 610) pressure boundary components are designed toaccommodate stresses.

    created by 52 Bar (740 psi) on smaller sizes, 41 Bar (600 psi) on larger sizes,

    caused by 2 times API 610 nozzle loads

    from spiral wound gasket compression

    The total of all stresses cannot exceed 25% of ultimate tensile strength x 0.8casting factor = 20% of UTS. Then another 3 mm (1/8") corrosion allowance isadded.

    Bearing Frame

    Bearing housing is finned carbon steelfor maximum heat dissipation.

    2 bearing housings and 3 shaft sizescover the entire OHV product line formaximum interchangeability.

    All bearing housings are drilled andtapped for grease or oil mistlubrication.

    The OHV full machined shaft is extraheavy duty with large diameter for lowshaft deflection and long life, and isinterchangeable with the OHH pump.The OHVL utilizes the OHHL shafts.

    4140, 420 SS, Nitronic 50 and Monelare materials commonly supplied tomeet application requirements.

    Bearings and Lubrication

    Bearings are interchangeable amongOHH, OHHL, OHV and OHVL pumps.

    7300 series thrust bearings are back

    to back, heavy duty 40 deg. angularcontact with machined brass cages.

    6200 series ball radial bearing hasrequired C3 clearance.

    Vertical duty Protech bearing isolatorsare standard. Vertical duty Inproisolators are optional.

    Grease lubrication can be supplied forservices to 177 C (350 F). Pure oilmist lubrication can be used at anytemperature up to pump limit of232 C (450 F).

    Couplings, Guards and Cooling

    The same Metastream TSCS, Thomas 71, KopflexKD-2 non-lubricated couplings used on the OHH /OHHL can be supplied on the OHV or OHVL.

    The standard coupling guard meets ISO 13709

    (API 610) and OSHA requirements. Othermaterials are available to meet ATEX andcustomer specifications.

    For warm ambient, warm to hot operating

    temperatures, or 2 pole speeds with larger pumpsizes - and grease lubrication, the OHH low noisefan is added on the driver end of the shaft.

    With grease lubrication and pumpage > 121 C(250 F), the non-drive end fan is added.

    Pure oil mist lubrication is acceptable at anytemperature and is required > 177 C (350 F)

    Pump & Driver support stand

    The OHV / OHVL pump and driversupport stand is a heavy fabricationwith continuous welds and gussetedfor extra strength.

    FEA was used to analyze the standto assure that pumps operate wellaway from any natural frequencies per ISO 13709 (API 610).

    They are predrilled for the optional

    Sulzer back pullout removal systemshould that option be desired at a laterdate.

    They are fully machined to assure flatmounting surfaces and alignment

    rigidity.

    Sulzer PumpsOHVL low flow

    The OHVL is the low flow version ofthe OHV.

    It utilizes the OHV bearing frame withan OHHL shaft to secure the OHHL

    low flow impeller.

    The casing cover and diffuser are alsofrom the OHHL.

    The ISO 21049 (API 682) cartridge

    type mechanical seals fit OHH, OHV,OHHL and OHVL.

    The OHVL casing was CFD modeledand tested for reliable suctionperformance.

    Like the OHHL, inducers are availableon larger sizes for further improvedsuction performance.

    The OHVL performance is identical to theOHHL.

    It will produce more than 400 m (1,300 ft)

    in a single stage.

    Flow ranges from 0.2 m3/h (1 USgpm) toabout 50 m3/h (220 USgpm).

    NPSHr is excellent.

    Impeller standard clearance is a liberal0.75 mm (0.030") for thermal tolerance.

    Impellers are investment cast for smooth,repeatable performance.
