Nuria Garcia Arres completed her studies in voice with honors, with Ana Luisa Chova, at the Joaquin Rodrigo conservatory in Valencia, Spain. She has taken classes with R. Expert, M. Zanetti, Gloria Fabuel, Esperanza Malguerizo, and in New York with Patricia McCaffrey and P. Vallet, Metropolitan Opera coach.

Ms. Garcia Arres has been a finalist and winner of various international voice competitions, such as the Mediterranean International Competition in Bari, Italy (2008); she received the special Teresa Berganza prize in the 12th Julian Gayarre International Voice Competition (2008); was a finalist in the Alcoy International Competition (2011); 2nd prize winner in the Luis Mariano de Irun International Competition (2011); 3rd prize winner in the International Voice Competition in Colmenar Viejo, Madrid; a finalist in the Elda International Competi-tion and in the Beniamino Gigli International Competition in Rome (2012); and the prize for best Zarzuela interpretation at the Alcoy International Competition.

Her operatic roles have included Pamina in Mozart's "Die Zauberflote," and Zerlina in Mozart's "Don Giovanni" in Turin, Italy; V. Bellini's "La Sonnambula," G.C. Menotti's "Amelia al Ballo" and "Four Note Opera;" Gounod's "Mirelle" at the Palais des Rois de Majorque in Perpignan, France, under the direction of Cristobal Soler. She has also performed the role of Adina in Donizetti's "L'Elisir d'Amore" in various theaters throughout Spain; Lucy in Britten's "The Rape of Lucretia" in Split's National Theater and in the Teatro Verdi in Trieste, Italy; Micaela in Bizet's "Carmen" in Merida's Roman Theater; and the roles of Lace Saller in Britten's "Death in Venice," and Countess Ceprano in Verdi's "Rigoletto," both at Madrid's Teatro Real.

Her Zarzuela repertoire includes P. Zorozabal's "Katiuska," Casta in T. Breton's "Verbena de la Paloma," Carolina in M. Torroba's "Luisa Fernanda" at the Auditorio Nacional de Madrid, B. Peris' "El Cuento del Posadero" at El Palau de la Musica in Valencia, Nicasia in J. Serrano's "La Dolorosa," A. Vives' "Bohemios," F. Alonso's "Las Leandras," the role of Encarnacion in Soutullo's "El Ultimo Romantico," Suhl in V. Lleo's "La Corte del Faraon," and Rosa in Chapi's "El Rey que Rabio" at the Palau de la Musica de Valencia; Rosina in J. Serrano's "La Cancion del Olvido," and Antonelli in M.F. Caballero's "El Duo de la Africana" at the Teatro Principal de Castellon and at the Teatro Principal de Valencia; Catalina in Sorozabal's "Black el Payaso" at Madrid's Teatro de la Zarzuela and at the Festival Internacional de Granada.

This season Ms. Garcia Arres has made her debut in Offenbach's "La Grande Duchesse de Gerolstein," in "La Dogaresa" with Cristobal Soler and Javier de Dios, and "La Marchenera" with Miguel Angel Gomez Martinez in Madrid's Teatro de la Zarzuela; Marina in Arrieta's "Marina" at the Teatro Cervantes de Malaga; and the role of Raquel in J. Guerrero's "El Hues-ped del Sevillano."
