Ministry of Education,Culture and Sport has responsability for education but the 17 autonomous regions make most of decisions regarding their own education systems

CATEGORIES

Schools  can be divide into 3 main categories:

State schools   68´2 % Privately  run schools  funded  by the state  18´4% Private schools 13´4%                           

State schooling is free of charge up t0 university but parents are responsible for buying textbooks and other materials. Due to the recent economic crisis, some autonomous regions have set up a system by which students can use government tokens in bookshops to purchase school materials.

STRUCTURE

Infant&Primary Education four-years university degree

specialities: Infant Education, Primary Education, Music,Physical Education, Foreign Language, Special Education,Speech Therapy Secondary Education post-graduate qualification + professional certificate of pedagogical specialisation or a Master’s degree in education. Higher Education Initial training for higher education teaching staff primarily takes place in university establishments or institutions for first-, second- or third-cycle studies.
