Our ProjectOur Project

Neo Natal Care And Survival Project is anawareness project in which our aim was to aware

the people regarding the deaths ofNewborn babies

in 17 CCSP districts of Uttar Pradesh where

48/1000 babies die within 28 days of their birth dueto:

y Lack of proper implementation in government

For spreading awareness Jagran Pehel with Unicef hasdone:

y Research work in CCSP districts.

y Visual publicity through our holdings ,banner andposters.

y Prashn Prehar and Panel Discussion were done to cover17 CCSP districts. Both the events work a lot inspreading the awareness among the people.

y Media tracking and Report writing.

Mothers must be made aware, because for healthy child mother must be

healthy.

Education to girl child Through this when a girl will become mother

she will easily be able to take the precautions for the newborn .

Late marriage- Early marriage causes lots of problems as a girl is not

ready to handle the baby which causes many complications at the time of

delivery and it is dangerous for both mother and child.

Need to promote Government schemes among public- Government

runs a lot of schemes which are very much helpful for the public but due to

lack of proper publicity these schemes are not successful. E.g. WHO runs

the scheme of Pulse Polio in collaboration with the government.

STRENGTHS: Queries are solved by well known doctors.

y Vast scale of awareness through newspaper coverage.

y Panel Discussion gives a platform for Doctors and Ashas.

y Government is also running such programs by which we get media coverages.

y Jagran and Unicef are big Brands which supports us a lot.

WEAKNESSES:

y Illiterate people cannot read newspaper so they do not come to know about the event.

No proper feedback was taken from the districts covered.y Doctors suggestions vary mostly in the case of vaccination, which can confuse people.

y Only Dainik Jagran readers can get the benefit of the Prashn Prehar .

y Prashn Prehar and Panel Discussion were not done on ground level.

y More and more doctors can be involved.

y Advertisement for the same can be run on radio.

y Prashn Prehar and Panel Discussion can be done on regular basis inCHC/PHC and Districts hospitals.

y Large area is left for spreading awareness.

THREATS

y The internal threat can arise if offices in different locations do not giverequired technical support, the Prashn Prehar will not be carried onsuccessfully.

y External threat comes from the callers who do not understand the termNeo Natal and hence ask irrelevant questions which wastes the time andresources. Since we have limited time and resource, it hampers the outcome.

y In Panel Discussion if Guests make fake commitments.

Pehel can coordinate with local Social workers/NGOs andsenior citizens for their support.

Group of youths can also be involved in supporting such

causes, like NCC, NSS.

Road Shows , Nukad Natakcan also help to promote our

message.

Panchayats , PHCs , CHCs, Hat / Choupal- Discussionon newborn can be done in these places . IEC Van activity

can also be done in these areas where large number of people

will be awared.

Stall Activity, Fair- Free Checkups ,Suggestions and

medicines can be provided. By this we can make people awareand can do the checkups of pregnant ladies and newborns.

Radio Publicity can be done in all the leading radio channels.

Prashn Prehar event can also be given on radio.

Toll Free number for asking question 24*7- By this

whenever anyone want to get information for their young ones

they can easily get information.

Providing free of cost post cards for asking question and

feedback

Training for Ashas can also be given by keeping them in confidence ifthere is any problem faced by them regarding support and payments then

our newspaper will raise their voice.

Baby Kit and Informative material on pregnant ladies and newborn

can be given to pregnant ladies by the help ofAshas so that pregnantladies can make their schedule for vaccination/checkups ,diet and care

for newborns.

Collection of the data of pregnant ladies with the help of Ashas.

Awareness news can be given in all the leading newspapers.

This Project is incomplete until we do not take it to the ground level.

we are doing media tracking since the starting of this Neonatal project

and we have tracked that after starting this project lots of news related tohealth issues mostly regarding to pregnant ladies and newborn child arecoming in the all the leading newspaper, Apart from Dainik Jagran ,AmarUjala is giving lot of news on health issues.

Commitments made by the Guestsy Those who have made commitments we can organize a meeting where

they can tell that they have completed there commitments or not and ifnot then what are the reasons.

Our local reporter can keep a check on the committed work are doneproperly or not.

Feedback for the Project:

In Prashn Prehar if Doctors were Pediatrician orNeonatologist instead of

Gynecologist quality of calls must have increased.

Those who have made commitments in the Panel Discussion we must

have taken it in writing or video recording must be done, now we dont

have any proof for the commitments made by them.

Support for Project

Partnership with private firms can also give funds and support.

Correlate with other Social Issues

We can correlate this project for Saving Girl Child because many girl

child are either murdered in the womb or in early childhood due to

negligence towards their health and care.
