Introduction

 

The MICD will offer the following services to the market:  Handling of full and empty containers Storage of full and empty containers Packing and un-packing of containers Groupage of LCL cargoes Handling of project cargoes through a lay down area Inspection of containers Cleaning and washing of containers Minor repairs of containers Transport of full and empty containers to vessel and depot Handling, storage and warehousing of export and import cargo Warehouse approved by PPECB for ambient packing Plug points to PTI reefer containers Packing of reefers containers from cold trucks directly

Location

 

The Project area is situated just outside Gate no. 1 of the Maputo Port which is the main entrance for all cargo to and from the Port.

The MICD is inside the concession area of the Port of Maputo and is bound to the same bonded conditions and regulations as described by Customs

Development

 

The MICD will incorporate the following:  Warehouse of 8 000 m² Empty container yard for 2 000 TEU's Full container yard for 300 TEU's Bulk slab of 8 000 m² Container wash bay Workshop Inspection area for reefer containers

Main Activities

1. Handling, storage and warehousing of export and import cargo 200 000 t of mineral products outside storage per annum 120 000 t of general cargo warehouse storage per annum       2. Handling and storage of full and empty containers. Empty 20’ containers will mainly be stored for the packing of cargoes   Full containers will be transported to DP World into stack for shipping after packing  3. Packing and un-packing of containers.    This operation will be done according to client specifications and needs

4. Washing of containers Containers will only be washed if requested by Shipping Lines to meet client needs 5. Container repairs Only minor repairs, no structural 6. Warehouse Warehousing of various cargoes for the packing of export containers
