• ¿FILOSOFIA?. INCREMENTO DE LA COMPETITIVIDAD EUROPEA A NIVEL MUNDIAL. NO SE FINANCIAN ENTIDADES EEUU Y JP. APERTURA A MERCADOS INTERNACIONALES, POSICIONAMIENTO CIENTÍFICO Y EMPRESARIAL. POLICY RELEVANT. Evolución de patentes, oportunidad pro la coyuntura económica actual.

• Contenidos y presupuestos. Una convocatoria anual general y varias conjuntas con el mismo o parecido intervalo de apertura La tendencia ha sido la incorporación de topics relevantes para el sector empresarial en desarrollos que abarcan desde la investigación básica a la demostración. Se espera incremento destacado a partir de 2011.p

• Tipología de iniciativas. Aproximadamente 35% de las iniciativas que se financian son proyectos colaborativos grandes (% que tiende a incrementarse en el futuro), el 45% son proyectos colaborativos medianos o pequeños, y el 20% CSAs e investigación para grupos específicos. Se opta por financiar un proyecto por topic colaborativo grande dos por topic colaborativo mediano o pequeño y hasta 5 paraproyecto por topic colaborativo grande, dos por topic colaborativo mediano o pequeño y hasta 5 para CSAs; es decir, la competencia por la financiación se produce a nivel de topic y no por Áreas o Sub-actividades.

• Evolución en retornos, principales actores. La situación de partida planteaba un amplio recorrido de , p p p p pmejora en cuando a retornos, liderazgo y participación empresarial. En los tres últimos años se ha obtenido un aumento significativo tanto en retornos como en liderazgo. Es significativo el incremento de la participación de centros tecnológicos, así como del sector empresarial.

El consumo anual total del edificio no puede superar los 60 kWh/m²/año (energía- El consumo anual total del edificio no puede superar los 60 kWh/m²/año (energíaprimaria)- Incluyendo todo tipo de consumo (calor, frio, aire acondicionado, así como consumo deelectricidad e iluminación))- Dimensión transeuropea “real” en el consorcio.- Se debe realizar un estudio económico estimando el tiempo de retorno de la inversión.- La actuación debe ser lo más rentable posible cuanto a costes.

•Development of novel eco-efficient environmental technologies (including monitoring) whose direct or indirectp g ( g g)use can substantially contribute to the reduction of materials use, energy needs, polluting emissions, etc., andwhose effectiveness can be demonstrated through a basket of key environmental performance indicators. Aparticular solicitation is made for presenting proposals on bio-mimetic (or "mimicking nature") technologiescapable of deriving from nature's way of functioning the design principles that lead to eco-efficient and lowresource-intensive processesresource-intensive processes.

Proposals should address direct and indirect impacts, as well as primary or secondary effects, and should clearlydemonstrate a substantial improvement of the sustainability performance along the entire life cycle of the proposedsolutions – also considering rebound effects -, with respect to currently available state-of-the-art technologies.P l h ld d t l d t t th t ti l k t di i th k ti f ibilit d th t lProposals should adequately demonstrate the potential market dimension, the marketing feasibility and the eventualregulatory and non-regulatory barriers that might limit the exploitation of the proposed innovation. This approach should be mainly addressed towards highly innovative SMEs and industries, in appropriate partnership with research institutions and other stakeholders. A minimum of 30% of the EC requested contribution should be allocated to private enterprises and/or SMEs in the consortium. This element will be considered in the second stage of the evaluation. The evaluation will be organised through a two-step process in order to funnel the most innovative ideas and to reduce the potential oversubscription. The first step evaluation will be carried out on the basis of a proposal outline of max. 15 pages. The evaluation will be focused only on the criteria of scientific quality and impact. Only the top-ranked proposals that will pass all thresholds – up to 250% of the available budget – will be retained for the second step. No budget limitation per proposal or upper limit of number of g p g p p p ppproposals to be funded applies to this topic.

Call)Content/scope: The research should develop indicators based on the quantitative assessment of eco-efficiency measured at "meso"-level (depending on the case, this may refer to a system, sector or product). The eco-efficiency indicators should look at the entire value chain including the final use. The eco-efficiency indicators should be tested, collecting appropriate data, in at least 6 different case studies. The case studies should include highly innovative sectors, systems or products and should be selected taking into account their economic relevance and their potential environmental impacts. The research should build on the existing initiatives on eco-efficiency indicators (e. g. EEA, Eurostat, JRC, OECD).

Call)Content/scope: The development and availability of technologies, products and services that help minimising the environmental footprint of human activities through energy and resource efficiency are key elements of the transition to sustainable societies. Some data is already available, however often on a fragmented and local scale. The lack of good macro-level indicators is hindering the full recognition of the eco-innovations potential. This research should not stop at the theory of eco-innovation measurement but should be aimed at developing and measuring macro-level indicators to monitor the ex-post impacts of innovation processes including diffusion of innovations into society on key environmental impact categories (e .g. greenhouse gases release, resource efficiency, biodiversity). Content/scope: Dissemination of EU research results is made trough the individual projects, notably by dedicated websites and other tools. To help enterprises and in particular SMEs to benefit from EU funded research, e-dissemination of results should be streamlined and promoted notably through creative and dynamic platforms and interoperable portals/tools. The activity should be put in place in collaboration between selected past and current EU projects. Content/scope: Eruptions likely to occur are always preceded by volcanic unrest period and pre-eruptiveprecursor signals. How to distinguish between unrest leading to eruption from unrest which doesn't. Theresearch should therefore develop and improve the predictability and the knowledge related to pre-eruptive processes for representative and dangerous volcanoes. Advances in modelling andmonitoring capacity need to be assured within a multidisciplinary collaboration framework. From theanalysis of volcanic unrest taking into account uncertainties, the project should develop and produce betterprobabilistic assessments leading to better plans for the management of volcanic crisis and theimprovement of forecasting and communication procedures.
