We have just completed getting all of the reports into the office and arethrilled to see that in this past week the Spain Barcelona Mission wasblessed with 16 baptisms!! That is one of the finest weeks we have seen inquite some time and we have reason to rejoice and thank our HeavenlyFather for responding to our fervent prayer and fasting that we mightbring more of His children into the waters of baptism. Our fast one week

ago was conducted with the purest of intents. Our only thought was forthe welfare of others and bringing more souls to Christ. I am so profoundlygrateful that our Heavenly Father heard our prayers and saw fit to pourout a marvelous blessing on us. Once again we see the power of fastingand the miraculous accomplishments we see when we acknowledgeGod as the source of all of our blessings and the source of this miracle.

In Alma 7:23, we read, ..being diligent in keeping thecommandments of God at all times; asking for whatsoever things ye

stand in need, both spiritual and temporal; always returning thanks untoGod for whatsoever things ye do receive. Well, the mission has beenworking hard on obedience, we did ask for something (to see more of Hischildren enter the waters of baptism), and He was true to His word andpoured us out a great blessing. Now we need to do our part. I want tothank the Lord with all of the power of my being for this great blessing. While it blesses us as a mission and you as missionaries, the greatestblessing comes to those who took upon themselves the name of Christ

and entered the waters of baptism. Some day they will look back andrealize it was the single most important day in their livesthe day in whichthey began their journey back to live with their Father.

Now, it will be our responsibility to maintain the momentum. With theMission Tour, Concilio, and Transfers all within one week, there might be atemptation to slow down in the work. True escalator missionaries willnever let that happen and will continue to focus their energies on finding, teaching repentance and baptizing converts. I feel so grateful that Ihave the privilege of working side by side with the great missionaries of ElFaro. I am grateful for each and every one of you who work hard, are

exactly obedient and go out and give it your all every day. I am gratefulfor wonderful District Leaders and Zone leaders; I deeply appreciate ourtremendous Assistants and the office staff. I am profoundly thankful thatthe Lord found me worthy to participate in this great latter-day labor ofsaving souls by bringing them to Christ. I hope you will join me in offeringup a mighty prayer of gratitude to our Father in Heaven tonight forblessing us with 16 baptisms this week. The gospel is true and miracles stillhappen!! Of that I bear humble witness.

    Gozoso en gratitude,

    President Merril T Dayton

    Flexibility vs. Resistance

    Message From Hermana Dayton

29 de Mayo de 2016El larn de El Faro

Flexibility is willingness to change plans or ideas. It is not setting our affectionon plans or places that could be changed by those we are serving.

In order to be flexible, change must occur, and that change producesension. Many studies have been done on change and what change is mosttressful in life. The top stressful events are the loss of a family member, divorc

and uprooting a family and moving them to a new location--especially onehat is unknown. It is interesting to note that our Heavenly Father often require

his children to uproot and move. Lehiand his family were asked to move as was Noah, Abraham, the Sons of Mosiaandhe prophet Joseph Smith and the early saints along with many others. He

called the Nation of Israel out of Egypt and throughout their wilderness journe

had them watch the cloud over the Tabernacle. When the cloud moved thewere to move. Therefore, they had to be in a constant state of flexibility.

The Savior demonstrated flexibility often by changing his plans toaccommodate the needs of others. When He called his disciples He askedhem to leave their homes, their vocations and follow Him.

Our Heavenly Father asks us to not have our hearts set upon the things of th

world in order for us to be available to serve. in 1 John 2:15 we read, "love nohe world, neither the things that are in the world." He taught, "For where youreasure is, there will your heart be also." Luke 12:34. Flexibility is being ready

nd willing to move when God says "move" and to stay when he says, "stay."ery often, the degree of pain we experience when required to be flexible

eveals the extent to which our affections are set on the things of this world.

On Saturday night President and I attended a baptism in Zaragoza of threewonderful converts. As we traveled back to Barcelona, President made 20

alls asking missionaries to serve as Zone Leaders, Sister Training Leaders, to

pen new areas, etc. As I listened to his many requests and as I heard yourwonderful responses, I marveled at how flexible you are as missionaries. As theequest for change was made, all missionaries immediately responded, "yes--l be happy to President." We feel grateful for your flexibility andour willingness to do whatever it takes to build the kingdom in Spain..you are wonderful!

We can apply flexibility to missionary work by:

Being willing to change plans and ideas as we are prompted by the SpiritGiving up our original plans when someone calls and is in need of our serviceTrying different ideas learned in Zone Conference, District Meeting or duringintercambios to be a more effective missionaryLooking for the miracles when plans get changed and speaking

he reasons why the new plan was betterTrying different ways of doing things suggested by your companion or

eaders insteadof continuing to do it your wayEnjoying the opportunity to move to a new area, to have a newompanion to furtherthe work of the LordRespecting and following the decisions made by President Dayton

Transitions can be hard. The degree to which we can handle change maye a marker of our ability to find happiness as we pass through each stage of

ur lives. We are continually amazed at the flexibility and adaptability of youmissionaries. May the same degree of flexibility you have shown in the missioneld bless you throughout your lives.

We had a baptism this week!Boom! Marina, she was soready, I'm so happy for her. My

testimony of baptism andrepentance has really beenstrengthened since being out onthe mission. It's so amazing tosee how people in one singlesimplistic moment candrastically change their lives.Without fail every time I witnessa baptism, I am brought totears. It's so beautiful, thisopportunity we have been all

given to change and start ablank page, a new slate. Its asequence of growth just like ababy learning how to walk, weare all here on this earthlearning how we can change, learning how to grow, gainingknew knowledge, but we justhave to take that first step.

    Veronica was baptized on

Saturday and it was a beautifulservice! I am truly grateful thatHeavenly Father placed us inher path almost two monthsago. It has been incredible tosee the change in her. She hasmade many friends in the wardand is already participating inclass discussions. Bishop said hewill extend a calling to her nextweek. I have no doubt she willbe a strong member. Now weare going to focus more on herhusband Fernando.

We had another Baptism thisweek! Leslie got baptised! Therewas such a sweet spirit whenLeslie entered the font. Thereweren't very many people atthe service but Leslie invited acouple of her friends whichmade it even more special.

Leslie was being taught by theHermanas months ago and

even had a fecha with them, but she felt that she wasn'tquite ready to take the step of

baptism. However, when westarted teaching her she toldus that she was finally ready. It's been a beautiful uphillclimb from that moment on.Leslie really is our miracle girl.

Friday Fernando had hisinterview and it went incrediblywell! When our zone leaderstarted to talk about

commandments he said 'Idon't know why people callthem commandments, they'reways which help everybody behappy' our zone leader wentright then, that's that. Saturdaywas the day of the baptism soas always it was stressful! Mycompanion printed off thewrong programs then we wereoverloaded with visits it was

crazy! Then straight afterwe ran to the chapel and hadthe baptism, it was incredible!Fernando brought his sisterwho's a non- member; it washer first time there and shecried so much it was unreal!Plus she said she wanted to bebaptised as well.... And Johnour investigator came so I satwith him and explainedeverything, it was an incrediblenight!

Bautiiiiiiiiismo!!!!!! Woohoo! What a miracle his week hasbeen! It's amazing howprepared Veronica was as wetaught her thecommandments. And thesimplicity of her faith! It's alsobeen amazing to see the wardgather around her and help

her feel loved! She even told usbefore that she had just

moved and had no friends butknow all the ward wants to

have her over! It's been a realblessing! But the best miraclewas to see her baptized andconfirmed and bare hertestimony that she knew thatthe church was true! What ablessing it is to be a missionaryand be a part of thatconversion.

    This week was just great

because BAUTISMO! Kamalfinally got baptized! Asmissionaries we are literallyhelping out our brothers andsisters be saved to obtaineternal salvation! It NEVER getsold to see someone enter intothe covenant of baptism withour Heavenly Father.
