Hermana Dayton and I had a remarkable experience this past weekend in Madrid. We attended the Spain-wide Priesthood Training meeting which included everymission president, every stake president, every bishop, every branch president andcounselors of the stakes presidencies and mission presidencies in Spain. It was ameeting never to be forgotten and it was such a privilege to be part of the historicalgathering. Housed in one large stake center in Madrid was the entire leadershipstructure of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Spain. Ive never seenanything like it! Making the meeting even more significant and special was that it waspresided over by an apostle of Godone of only 15 prophets, seers, revelators andspecial witnesses of Christ on the face of the earth. For 4 glorious hours we had theopportunity to sit at the feet of Elder Bednar and receive instruction from a livingprophet. It would take hours to share everything we learned but I wanted to take amoment and share with the finest missionaries on the face of the earth, in brief form, what he taught me during those hours that passed all too quickly.

    1) Not all prophetic keys reside just with the senior apostle (President Monson). ElderBednar pointed out that as the prophet gets older, his energy diminishes, and hecant do as much. However, it doesnt matter because the prophetic keys are

shared by the other 14 prophets, seers, and revelators. Thus when decisions haveto be made, the Prophet oversees them, but there is an entire Presiding Councilthat participates in the decision making and they have to be unanimous to moveforward on any issue.

    2) Everything we do leads us to invite others to come unto Christ. Some times in theChurch we TALK about it too much and dont ACT. It is not enough just to invitesomeone to do something as a missionary. We must invite them to do somethingthat will result in an ACT that will increase their faith and result in their baptism. We

need to pray not just to knowbut to DO (it is not enough to ask investigators toread the Book of Mormon to know it is true, they must read it to know it is true SOTHEY CAN BE BAPTIZED!). To truly follow Christ we must ACT.

    3) We dont establish the conditions of a covenantGod does. Some people thinkthat they can decide what the conditions of the covenant arethey cant. When we covenant with our Heavenly Father, we either accept or reject theconditions of the covenant. Obviously if we reject them we have no promise. Ifwe accept them, our agency changes and even enlarges. What He wants ismore important than what we want. Upon taking upon yourself the name ofChrist, you give up your right to do any old thing you want. We turn our lives over

to Christ by these covenants through the Atonement. We have access to theAtonement through keeping our covenants.

    4) Every new convert should have 2 baptismal datesone, for their own baptismand two, baptism for their dead in the temple as soon as possible after theirbaptism.

    5) Someone who is baptized receives the Holy Ghost the next day and can receivethe priesthood at the same time or soon thereafter.

Obviously, I could go on and on but will leave you with these thoughts for now. InD&C 68:4 it states, And whatsoever they shall speak when moved upon by the HolyGhost shall be scripture, shall be the will of the Lord, shall be the mind of the Lord, shallbe the word of the Lord, shall be the voice of the Lord, and the power of God untosalvation. I was blessed to witness living scripture being made this weekend and it isan experience I will not soon forget. I testify that the Church is led by living apostlesand prophets that are directed by the Savior himself.

    Responsibility vs Unreliability

    Message From Hermana Dayton

15 de Mayo de 2016El larn de El Faro

esponsibility is knowing and doing what is expected of me. It is especiallymportant that we KNOW what the Lord expects of us and then that we DO whate asks. The Savior explained that what we do to benefit others is actually doneo Him. "Inasmuch as ye have done it unto the least of these my brethren, yeave done it unto me." Matthew 25:40. We also read from King Benjamin in

Mosiah 2:17, "When ye are in the service of your fellow beings, ye are only in theervice of your God." As missionaries, we can be assured that as we preach the

Gospel daily, we are being responsible to the Lord for our sacred stewardship.

n the computer room of our family home, we have quotes painted beautifully onur walls. One of these quotes read, "Happiness is doing what needs to done,

when it needs to be done whether you like it or not" Jessie Evans Smith. In ouramily, we often discussed that being responsible is doing what you need to do,

when it needs to be done even when you don't feel like doing it. Abrahamncoln said, "You can't escape the responsibility of tomorrow by avoiding it

oday." The more responsible a person is, the more freedom he/she receives. As aarent we taught our children that we loved each one of them but that trust was

omething they needed to earn. When a person completes the work he or she isiven to do, they demonstrate being responsible and trust is gained. The good

eputation earned opens the door for increased responsibility. We all reap whatwe sow.

he Savior demonstrated responsibility in doing all that the Father required. Histoning sacrifice was the ultimate manifestation of being responsible in takingpon himself the sins of all mankind.

Christlike Attributes- Faith, Charity, Love, Virtue, Hope, and Humility, Knowledge & Wisdom,Patience, Diligence, Creativity, Enthusiasm, Generosity, Forgiveness, Dependability, Availability,Orderliness, Gratitude, Endurance, Persuasiveness, Compassion, Alertness, Character, Decisiveness,

Determination, Truthfulness, Benevolence, Honor, Sincerity, Punctuality, Joyfulness, Gentleness, SelfControl, Initiative, Cautiousness, Loyalty, Meekness, Sensitivity, Obedience, Discernment, Boldness,Discretion, Responsibility

An important aspect of responsibility is being personally accountable for ourhoughts, words, actions and attitudes. King Benjamin in his address to the peopleaid, "if you do not watch yourselves, and your thoughts and your words and youeeds, and observe the commandments...ye shall perish." Mosiah 4:30 "In every

dle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day ofudgment." Matthew 12:36 and in 2 Corinthians 5:10 we read, "We must all appeaefore the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in

is body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad." One thingor sure, the Lord will judge us for our motives, I the Lord search the hearteremiah 17:10.

We can demonstrate responsibility in missionary work by:Praying for our companion and each investigatorPlanning effectively and working our planAccepting personal responsibility for our thoughts, our words and our actionsLiving the missionary schedule

Working hard each day to magnify our sacred calling as a missionaryTaking responsibility for our health by eating correctly and exercising each dayBy keeping the commitments we made with God in the templeDoing my best in all that I do

As a commissioned emissary of Jesus Christ, we are grateful that you are aesponsible disciple of Christ and do all you can to be a light to the world.

We are inspired by how hard working, dedicated and responsible you are inringing others to Christ and letting others see your devotion to the Savior. We willontinue to pray for you as you magnify your sacred stewardship.

Our miracle this week was thebaptism of Samuel! Afterteaching him for a while it was

amazing to see him enter intothe waters of baptism.Afterwards he bore his testimonyand said that he felt like adifferent man, that he had beenchanged, and that he knewthat God would help him toovercome temptations andtrials. We were really glad tohear him bear testimony aboutthat, because he had to

overcome smoking to getbaptized, and he is worriedabout relapsing after thebaptism. We promised him thathe would be able to continuestrong with the help of the HolyGhost, and that testimony wasan answer to our promise, andto our prayers.

We met with Sam who was

still unsure about whether ornot he had received ananswer if he should bebaptized or not. When we gotto the Cita we read Either 12with him and talked abouthow we don't receive ananswer until after our faith. Hethen told us that he had finallyreceived an answer! He saidSunday he wasn't going to go

to church because he wasn'tfeeling that good but whenwe called him and told him tocome he decided to go andwhen he got to the church heinstantly felt better felt the spiritand he knows that's the lordtelling him this church istrue.....AND HE GOT BAPTIZEDSATURDAY! Thanks so much forcoming to his baptism!

Esta semana vimos otrogran milagro, que fue ver elbautismo de Salvador. l es

yesterday! We are praying sohard that they will bebaptized in May. Ourbaptismal goal is 5 and wehave 4 more to go. WE NEEDTO BAPTIZE A FAMILY Also, allof the recent converts hereare doing great! Bianka waseven able to invite and bringher cousin to churchyesterday! He loved it andsaid he would maybe evenlike to be baptized! We arereally excited for this "Book ofMormon" week. Zoneenfoque went really well, andthe zone is excited as well. The ________ zone is doinggreat. They are beingobedient and working hard.We know that this month is

going to be full of baptisms.

This week has been greatand my miracle story isn't toobig, just a little way of howthe Lord works sometimes.Elder _______ and I we're atthe church and we werewaiting for a investigator, butunfortunately he didn't showup. So we decided to

contact our way up to ourpiso to grab my charger toSkype our families. Wecontacted a guy that isgolden, he has lots of greatquestions and he wants tocome closer to Christ. It'sfunny how the Lord uses"forgotten chargers" to put uson the path of a preparedchild of God.

The zone had a great weekof finding last week with at

least three of ourcompanionships in the zonefinding 15 news this week, and 5 companions findingmore than 8! And this weekwe will be having thechallenge of the Book ofMormon week! Wechallenged our zone in ZoneEnfoque to hand out 16books as a companionship to

investigators that seem willingto read and accept. So as azone our goal for the week isto place 256 Books ofMormon!!! Elder _______ and Iwill do our best to be a goodexample of that challenge.

miracle this week - Vanesacame to church! We've beenteaching her for a few weeks

now, and she's never cometo church. So, we went topick her up, and she came! And it was perfect for her -the talks were all aboutfamilies, the law of chastity, and temples, and that's

exactly what she needs tohear. The bishop had askedme randomly to choosehymns for Sacrament beforethe meeting, and I choseLove At Home as the closingsong.... Perfect! The Lordworks in miraculous ways.

As for us, we are seriouslyso blessed here in _____. Wehave a good amount of solidinvestigators, and it has been

incredible to see theirprogress and their conversionto the church. One of themany miracles we saw thisweek was with ourinvestigator Loida. She wasgoing to be baptized threeweeks ago but everything inher life went downhill and wehaven't been able to see herfor the past few weeks. Finally

last Friday we passed by andshe let us in for 25 minutes.Turns out she has still beenreading the Book of Mormonthis whole time and is alreadyin 2 Nephi! It made me sohappy to hear that.

We saw so many miraclesapart from that this week. Wehad 4 people in church andElder _____ commented tome that is the first time thathe has had a progressinginvestigator in church!! Whata miracle it was to get themthere. We woke up yesterdayto so much wind and rainand an ugly morning. We

had previously committedtwo men, Jose and Wandelto come to church and theysaid they would come but itwould have to be walkingbecause there was no otherway. I looked out the windowand said.... They will probablynot come with this weather...When I called them they saidthey were already half waythere!!! What faith they have

    Dear missionaries of El Faro,

We would like to commend you for your faith and hard work in theLords vineyard here in the Spain Barcelona Mission. We know that all ofyou are putting forth great effort to bring souls unto Christ. That beingsaid the past few weeks we havent seen as many baptisms as wewould hope to see despite our best efforts. We need the help of ourHeavenly Father to open up the windows of heaven and pour upon us

His blessings. President has asked that we hold a mission wide fast fromthis Saturday the 21st to Sunday the 22nd . We know that as we fastand pray we will see the Lords hand even more in this time of need inthe work of the Lord.

Nevertheless the children of God were commanded that theyshould gather themselves together oft, and join in fasting and mightyprayer in behalf of the welfare of the souls of those who knew not God

    Alma 6:6.

Therefore, O ye that embark in the service of God, see thatye serve him with all your heart, might, mind and strength, that ye maystand blameless before God at the last day. D&C 4:2
