EDUCATIONAL

TECHNOLOGY

Educational Technology is a field of study which is concerned with the practice of using educational methods and resources for the ultimate goal of facilitating the learning process.

Educational Technology is a theory about how problems in human learning are identified and solved. As a theory, educational technology has an integrated set of principles that explain and predict observed events.

Technology in Education

It one of the terms associated with educational technology. It is a application of technology to any of those processes involved operating the instructions which house the educational enterprise.

Technology Integration It means using learning technologies to introduce,

reinforce, supplement and extend skills. It can provide opportunities to respond to

instructional issues/problem.

These are channels or avenues or instruments of communication.

Educational Media

Instructional Technology

It is part of educational technology which refers to those aspects of educational technology that are concerned with instructions as contrasted to designs and operations of educational institutions.

Technology can be called BOON or “blessing” when they are use in a proper way. With technology, there is a lot that we can do which we could not do then. It help us to do our work easier.

Technology can be called BANE or “curse” when they are not used properly. Technology becomes a detriment to learning and development.

Technology: Boon or Bane?

TECHNOLOGY

Traditional Way The learner learns from the technology and the

technology serves as a TEACHER.

Technology serves as source and presenter of knowledge.

It is assumed that ‘knowledge is embedded in the technology and the technology presents that knowledge to a students”.

The Roles of Educational Technology in Learning

Technology serves as a PARTNER IN LEARNING.

Educational technology serves as learning tool to learn with.

It engages learners in active, constructive, intentional, authentic and cooperative learning.

Constructivist Way

Role of Technology in Learning

1. Technology as tools to support knowledge construction:

• For representing learner’s ideas, understanding, and beliefs

• For producing organized, multimedia knowledge bases by learners

2. Technology as information vehicles for exploring knowledge to support learning-by-constructing:

• For accessing needed information

• For comparing perspectives, beliefs and world views

3. Technology as context to support learning-by-doing:

• For representing and simulating meaningful real-world problems, situations and contexts

• For representing beliefs, perspectives, arguments and stories of others

4. Technology as a social medium to support learning-by-conversing:

• For collaborating with others

• For discussing, arguing and building consensus among members of a community

5. Technology as intellectual partner to support learning-by-reflecting:

• For helping what learners to articulate and represent what they know

• For reflecting on what they have learned and how they came to know

1. Augments motivation to learn;

2. Encourages collaborative learning;

3. Supports the development of critical thinking skills;

4. Supports the development of problems solving skills

When used effectively, research indicates that technology:

Selecting the appropriate methods of teaching including the strategies and technique that you will use

Will you use inductive or deductive or deductive approach? Specific to general or general to specific?

2. Choose Appropriate Method (CAM)

Selecting the appropriate experiences for the students.

Selecting the right learning activities for the students

Ex: Reading, Writing, Playing, Baking, Dancing, etc.

3. Choose Appropriate Experience (CAE)

Selecting the appropriate materials equipment and even facilities you will use in achieving your objective.

Selecting the best instructional material to achieved the best learning outcome

4. Selecting Materials, Equipment and Facilities (SMEF)

Assigning or delegating task to the person in charge to help you meet your objective.

5. Assign Personnel Roles (APR)

Application of all the things you planned and prepared in order to meet your objective

Engaging with the students

Lesson proper

6. Implement The Instruction (ITI)

Evaluating the outcomes of the discussion for us to know if our objectives is achieved or not.

It can be written evaluation or oral evaluation

7. Evaluate Outcomes (EO)

8. Refine the Process (RP)

• It is a process wherein if the students passed the evaluation and you achieved your objective then you can proceed to the new lesson and if the objective is not met or achieved then you will again go back to the process.

Learning Through

EDTECH 1 and EDTECH 2

There are many reasons why educational technology is very important. There is a purpose why educational technology is taught in schools. Because educational technology 1 and 2 wants the student to know what is the use and how to use the instructional media in relation to education/teaching. Technology it helps us to communicate to our family when they are far from us. We learned through technology on how to use the computers, gadgets, etc.

Using instructional material is an effective way of engaging the students to the real world situation. Nowadays, the teahers are discussing their lesson with the use of instructional medias Also, based on observation, the technology help us to have a better learning. We can easily understand and receive the information.

A future educator must know the right use of instructional medias so that the computer will never replace the teacher. The teacher must be the one who will manipulate the computer, it is just a material that will help the teacher and the student to be more connected to one another.

The technology will also help the teacher to easily give chances to the students that can excel in class by applying medias/computers in their learning process. There are instances that student is actively participating in the class when they are engage in using technology. In other words, the technology has a big role in the field of learning.

The Student

After EDTECH

Today, the students are called the 21st century learners. When we say 21st century learners the students are living in a modern world who are using end encountered technology in their everyday life. They are individuals that can use technologies in good way to have a better learning.

The 21st century learners are able to:

• apply technology to their lives effectively, in a way they can use it to learn better.• what is the importance of educational technology• know what is the purpose of the educational technology• make instructional material that is connected to a particular topic• know the right way of using technology• know the limitations of using technology
