First Winter Phase Highlights Attention 8 th grade students! Our HSPT prep course begins on Oct. 13, 2015. We will meet from 4:45-5:45 . The first class will be a diagnostic assessment. Students should report to the Magis office . Mrs. Hernández will be happy to direct you to your designated classroom. Remember that you will get out what you put in! The HSPT prep course will meet on the following dates: 10/13, 10/20, 10/27, 11/3, 11/10, 11/17, 11/24, 12/1, 12/8 Magis Program October Newsletter “We are Magis, We are SI” HPST Prep Course Our first Winter Phase Session took place on September 26, 2015. We had a great turnout and our 7 th grade students were engaged in current event discussions, analyzing data and writing their own stories. Our 8 th graders conducted High School research, explored different college prep high schools and learned about application deadlines, shadow visits and amazing facts about SI. It was great to see them back! Remember that Winter Phase sessions are mandatory. If your student is going to be out, please email me or call! Our next Winter Phase is scheduled for October 24, 2015. 7 th grade students are required to attend. After our Winter Phase sessions, students are invited to participate in SI’s 2 nd African American Community Day from 12:00-2:00pm and conclude their day by attending the SI vs. Riordan football game at 2:00pm. CURSO DE PREPARACION PARA EN EXAMEN DE ADMISION A LAS ESCUELAS PREPARATORIAS (HSPT) Atención a todos los estudiantes del octavo grado. El curso de preparación para el examen de admisión HSPT comienza el 13 de octubre del 2015. Este curso es solo para estudiantes del octavo grado. Los estudiantes deben de reportarse a la oficina de Magis. Ahí, la Sra. Hernández les dejara saber el salón al cual deben reportarse. La primera clase será un examen diagnostico. El curso se reunirá en las fechas siguientes:

10/13, 10/20, 10/27, 11/3, 11/10, 11/17, 11/24, 12/1, 12/8

LO MEJOR SOBRE NUESTRA PRIMERA SESION DE WINTER PHASE (9/26/15) Nuestra primera sesión de Winter Phase fue maginfica. Los estudiantes se reunieron el 26 de septiembre y tuvieron la oportunidad de explorar varios temas, como inmigración, su propia historia, entro otros temas. Los estudiantes del octavo tuvieron la oportunidad de explorar información sobre varias escuelas preparatorias y aprender un poco mas acerca de los requisitos de admisión de estas. Recuerden que las sesiones de Winter Phase son mandatorias. Si su hijo/hija va a faltar por favor mándeme un correo electrónico o llámeme.

INFORMACION SOBRE LA PROXIMA SESION DE WINTER PHASE (10/24/15) La siguiente sesión de Winter Phase será el 24 de octubre.

Estudiantes del séptimo grado: Asistencia para los estudiantes del séptimo grado es mandatoria. Después de Winter Phase, ellos pueden participar en el evento “African American Community Day” de SI de 12:00 a 2:00 de la tarde. Por ultimo a partir de las 2:00 de la tarde, podrán asistir al partido de futbol norteamericano de SI contra Riordan. Los estudiantes y padres podrán disfrutar de un rico almuerzo.

Estudiantes del octavo grado: Tendremos un tal ler para completar la solicitud de admisión a St. Ignatius. El taller es para los padres de familia. Los estudiantes son bienvenidos pero no es necesario que estén presente. El taller será de 9:00am a 12:00pm. Habrá padres de familia que son miembros de la organización del grupo Latino y Afroamericano de SI disponibles para ayudarles. Después todos están invitados a participar en el evento “African American Community Day” de SI de 12:00 a 2:00 de la tarde. Por ultimo a partir de las 2:00 de la tarde, podrán asistir al partido de futbol norteamericano de SI contra Riordan. Los estudiantes y padres podrán disfrutar de un rico almuerzo.
