I. INTRODUCCIÓN Y OBJETIVOS

El Lake Yojoa Birding Blitz (LYBB) es un producto turístico orientado al mercado internacional y

nacional de avituristas que contribuye al monitoreo de aves de la Cuenca del Lago de Yojoa y al

posicionamiento del Lago como un destino privilegiado para la observación de aves y naturaleza.

Es un esfuerzo conjunto para registrar las más de 500 especies de aves en la cuenca del Lago de

Yojoa y contribuir con los esfuerzos de monitoreo de este magnífico refugio de aves.

El evento fue realizado en las fechas del 19 al 22 de noviembre de 2015, y fue organizado por la

Asociación Hondureña de Ornitología y Beaks & Peaks Birding and Adventures Tours, con el

apoyo del Proyecto USAID ProParque, Proyecto Aldea Global (PAG)–PANACAM Lodge,

AMUPROLAGO, ICF, y Yojoa Tours.

II. RESULTADOS DEL EVENTO

El evento inició la noche del 19 de noviembre de 2015, con un acto de inauguración realizado en el

Restaurante La Naturaleza (Lago Yojoa), donde se contó con las palabras de bienvenida por parte

de la ASHO, Beaks & Peaks e ICF (Figura 1). Posterior a las palabras de bienvenida, se presentaron

a los respectivos líderes de grupo (guías especializados), los objetivos del conteo, los grupos y los

recorridos. La agenda completa del acto de inauguración se encuentra en el Anexo 1.

El evento logró una participación de aproximadamente 70 observadores de aves, entre

nacionales e internacionales, los cuales fueron divididos en varios grupos, acompañados

por un líder, el cual fue seleccionado en base a su experiencia en la identificación de aves.

Dichos líderes de grupo fueron: Oliver Komar y John van Dort, ambos de la Universidad

de Zamorano, Williams Orellana de Beaks & Peaks Birding and Adventures, Alexander

Alvarado y Esdras López (guías especializados en aves) (Figura 2). El detalle de los grupos

junto con su respectivo guía especializado se encuentra en el Anexo 2.

2.1. RUTAS VISITADAS

Durante el evento, fueron visitadas en total ocho rutas diferentes, abarcando desde ecosistemas

acuáticos y humedales, hasta ecosistemas terrestres (bosques tropicales y nublados) y cafetales

bajo sombra. Dichas rutas fueron las siguientes:

1. Recorrido acuático por Lago Yojoa (incluyendo canal)

2. Senderos del PN Azul Meámbar

3. Senderos del PN Montaña de Santa Bárbara

4. Humedales del Cortijo del Lago

5. Parque Arqueológico Los Naranjos (incluyendo humedales)

6. Reserva Natural Privada BioParque Paradise (cafetales bajo sombra de bosque latifoliado)

7. Pito Solo

8. Reserva Natural Privada Luna de El Puente (bosque mixto)

2.2. AVES REGISTRADAS

Durante todo el conteo, los grupos de observadores de aves, en su conjunto, reportaron un total

de 293 especies de aves. En el Cuadro 1 se presenta un resumen del total de aves observadas por

día, y en el Cuadro 2 el listado completo de las 293 especies de aves registradas.
