The Kerala backwaters are a chain of lagoons and lakes lying parallel to the Arabian Sea coast in the Kerala state. The 

Kerala backwaters are home to many unique species of aquatic life including crabs, frogs and mudskippers, water birds 

and animals such as otters and turtles. Today, houseboat tourism is the most popular tourist activity in the backwaters,

with several large Kettuvallams (traditional rice boats, now converted into floating hotels)ply the waterways.

 The Virupaksha Temple in the city of  Hampi started out as a small shrine and grew into a

large complex under the Vijayanagara rulers. It is believed that this temple has been functioning 

uninterruptedly ever since the small shrine was built in the 7th century AD which makes it one

of the oldest functioning Hindu temples in India.

 The Lake Palace in Lake Pichola in the city of Udaipur was built as a royal

summer palace in the 18th century. Today it is a luxury 5 Star hotel, operating under

the “ Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces”. The Lake Palace hotel operates a boat which

transports guests to the hotel from a jetty at the City Palace on the east bank of Lake

Pichola. The palace became famous in 1983 when it was featured in the James Bond

film Octopussy, as the home of titular character.

 The Taj Mahal in Agra is an immense mausoleum of white marble, built between 1632

and 1653 by order of the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his favorite wife.

Called “a teardrop on the cheek of eternity” it is one of the masterpieces of Mughal

architecture, and one of the great tourist attractions in India. Besides the white domedmarble mausoleum the Taj Mahal includes several other beautiful buildings, reflecting 

pools, and extensive ornamental gardens with flowering trees and bushes.

Kanha National Park is among the most beautiful wildlife reserves in Asia and one

of best places to catch a glimpse of a tiger in India. The lush sal and bamboo forests,

grassy meadows and ravines of Kanha provided inspiration to Rudyard Kipling for

his famous novel “Jungle Book” and make this one of the top attractions in India.

 The Harmandir Sahib, better known as the Golden Temple is the main tourist attraction

in Amritsar, and the most important religious place to the Sikhs. Construction of the temple was

begun by Guru Ram Dast in the 16th century. In the 19th century, Maharaja Ranjit Singh the

upper floors of the temple were covered with gold. It’s a stunning temple, and always full of 

thousands of pilgrims from all over India, excited to be at a place that they usually only see on

television.

Let's Talk About the Hindu greeting, the man, say hello to

the use of the word Namaste, Namaskar, or Namaskaram,joining hands to the chest as if he were praying and tilting your

head forward as the typical eastern reverence. Namaste is a very

ancient way of greeting and farewell that symbolizes humility

and simplicity.

It is important to mention that it is considered as the most

natural to see two men holding hands while taking a walk. Thisdoes not mean that they are gay, but that is a way to express

friendship.

 Among other customs individuals, we found that cows are

sacred, so that the villagers eat other types of meat such asbuffalo, chicken and pig, although it is worth mentioning that

the vast majority tend to be vegetarians. It is really surprising to

know that the Hindus do not even dare to drink cow's milk, it

 would be like a blasphemy.

 The cows in India are considered as divine animals so it is

 very normal to see the hundreds of millions of cows that existin the country, passing from the streets, without being able to

be played by anyone. But what symbolism have the cow? They

represent sacred concepts like motherhood and life.

In the case of women, the point that we are going to talk 

about is called bindi (Tilak in Hindi language). It is usuallyround, red or black, made of ash or adhesive and is, like the

men, in the forehead to the height of the sixth chakra

(wisdom). Today is very popular find binds of all shapes and

In the case of men, to the brand that carried the flame tilaka

(tikka in the south of India) and is usually a mark made with pasta of ash red or orange and more elongated vertical and that

in the case of women. Traditionally Hindu women, to

demonstrate that they are married, they carry a line of red ash

(watches Kumkum at) on the line that divides the hair.

the religious meanings of the tika said that God has given them

2 eyes to see the physical world and the red dot tika is a

symbolic 3rd eye or eye of the soul to see the spiritual world.

 The Ganges river is considered as the sacred river in

Hinduism. A place where rich and poor, in the course of thecenturies, have made a habit of incinerated corpses and pull the

remnants. The fact is that there are even people with few 

resources who rents batteries funeral and that after a few hours,

before it has been cremated corpse, leftovers to the river; it isnot difficult to see anything floating bodies in the Ganges.

subject area, have made this river more than a place of  veneration, a place quite anti hygienic. AND is that people

think that making free use of the same purify themselves, to the

extent that they bathe and eat their waters ... and while on the

For centuries Indian society has a tradition of  arranged marriages . Even 

in the twenty-first century, for the vast majority of Indians are planned and 

their marriages arranged by their parents and other relevant members of 

the family, but almost always the bride and groom are the ones who give 

 final consent.

In the past, marriage was done being still very young husbands, especially 

in Rajasthan , but from the hand of modernization has been increasing 

age and also have enacted laws regulating the minimum age for marriage.

 The food in india is as diverse as india itself, the prepara tión used many ingredients.

 Varienty of styles of food preparaton, cooking and preparation techniques.

 A popular dish of Punjab is the Mahkni which a gravy of lentils and butter served on base of rice.

 Another popular dish is the chicken curry, a dish that does not use gravy is the tandoori chocken.
