RRR FIELD TRIP FOR SEPTEMBER, 2001:

THE FIELD TRIP FOR SEPT 2001 IS SCHEDULED FOR SAT. SEPT 15TH TOPETERSON PEAK, NORTH OF HALLELUJAH JUNCTION, CA. The collectingsite is located approximately 6.1 miles north of Hallelujah Junctionvia highway 395. we will meet at Hallelujah Junction gas stationat 10:00 and depart for the collecting area at 10:15. Gas, foodand water is av"il"ble st ll"llelujsh Junction.

Please see included map. Mar",areta and I checked out the road",oin", to the base of Peterson Peak, from hi",hw"y 395 gate and atthat time, this summer, the road was passable. There wIll be noproblem with cars with a medium to high centered clearance. carswith low centered clearance may not want to drive in. There isa large, wide graveled parking lot at the gate site. People canleave their vehicles there snd be ferried to the collecting siteand back. The distance from the Sacramento area via I~80 to Renoand highway 395 north to Hallelujah Junction is approximately 178miles. Then it is another 6.1 miles north on 395 to the turn off,parking site, and from there it is approximately 2 miles up tothe upper parking spot, last stop for vehicles.

I will have a sign-up sheet at the Sept Educational meeting torthose who wish to go on this trip. I csn also be contacted at myhome, Phone (916) 723-2919. The trip will be cancelled 1£ lessth"n 6 people, not counting myself, Sign up or notify me that theywant to gO. t will contact all who have signed up or contactedme no later than Friday the 14th, if the trip is concelled or is00.
