Se llama TO BE porque es su nombre en infinitivo o en otras palabras es la raíz de donde se forma. Se conjuga según el pronombre que le antecede y el tiempo verbal que le queramos dar. En preguntas y negativo este no lleva auxiliares ya que el mismo se utiliza como auxiliar.
