Since the preparation of the film actually since the script it-self we had very clear that a story like this needed a few play-ers who have very strong and complex characters to enhance their antagonism and create more tension between them

The two main characters of Txarriboda Fran and Klara are characters able to do anything to get what they need But the needs of both are very different Fran is able to do anything to get money and Klara may even risk her live in order to get justice When their interests clash they began to play the cat and mouse game maybe the most interesting part of the tape is that the roles of both changes as the story goes and the one who seems to be running a higher risk soon becomes stronger and harasses the contrary and vice versa

Looping around them one can see is a collection of well-defined characters and many-sided Igartua the officer in charge of the investigation which seeks to maintain his authority even at the cost of assigning a crime to an inno-cent Ramon the old policeman who wasted his life search-ing for truthfulness and now will do his last-ditch effort or Iker the young policeman who goes from being the coffee boy to become a reluctant hero despite himselfAnd all this in the midst of a very contemporary history business man swamped by the crisis and willing to become entrepreneur raiders just to take their business forward and maintain their social and economic status

ldquoNegotiatorrdquo is a movie that I started writing on my own Nobody had asked to do it and I didnacutet know if someday it would be realized I just wanted to write and thatrsquos it But vanity won (I liked what I had written) and I showed the script to the actors I fantasized as protagonists Ramon Barea Josean Bengoetxea and Carlos Areces were excited about the project and began to consider that it was possible to carry out this script which I consider very personal and very close to the tone of my first short films especially with the one titled ldquoEacuteramos pocosrdquo

The basis of the story is real but the plot and the characters are completely invented a ldquofiction based on a true storyrdquo Without aspirations to make a realistic chronicle of the nego-tiations between the Spanish government and ETA but with the idea of a fiction story about an event supposedly solemn and serious with plenty of little details becoming this act in a very homespun It is not a film about the negotiations but above all the details that surround it And those details make the film a comedy It is not a crazy comedy or caricature but a tangle content and somewhat melancholy

One of the constants I could hear related to our short film Birdboy also based on Psiconautas the graphic novel by Alberto is that it has not left indifferent containing some-thing that stayed with you once finished a footprint When we turn to remember and talk about those movies books or stories that leave their mark is because they beat us because they have something that shakes us sometimes in a harsh and difficult way As PSICONAUTASI felt that blow the first time I read the work of Alberto and immediately called him to propose this adventure of having the characteristic of Birdboy and Dinki as an audiovisual narrative (Pedro Rivero)

The migration is one of the most traumatic experience that a human being can live Despite having known about this ex-perience very closely from my European view I find it dif-ficult to understand the reasons for a mother to be separated from their children for years and leave them thousands of kilometers looking for a better life with all that mean these emotional tears Is it worth the adventure At the same time the migration process entails major chang-es and losses caused in mothers feelings of guilt and aban-donment to their children But in contrast I was intrigued to know how their children live motherhood in the distance what would be the feelings of the children of these immi-grant mothers What are the consequences of this distance Thanks to the knowledge of the socio-economic situation in their countries of origin and coexistence with their families ldquoTransitrdquo gives answers to all these questions Through this new job and this new perspective I intend to provide a social reality that although it may seem foreign to an European it may be that in a near future we would have to live it the same as our ancestors did In summary with this documentary I intend to claim the right to emigrate but also the right not to do so Personally I consider it necessary and vital to spread this kind of documentaries through television and education-al environment as well as the presence at festivals to raise awareness of social realities that affect everyone

We began to investigate about it Track after track surprise after surprise after it crossed our path Panamanian journal-ists monks of the Abbey of Beloc important madams of the Parisian bourgeoisie old scholars of the Basque language and many anonymous people we made a discovery of incalcula-ble historical value

The film is meant to be a faithful reflection of todayrsquos hand-pelota without trying to be an exhaustive documentary on the subject It is intended to show certain sensations and feel-ings experienced by its protagonists through a series of self-standing shots We want each image to be a story in itself and to do this the framing of the camera has to be frank and ldquonoblerdquondash to borrow a term from pelota It should not try to show off its own merits but the value of what it is filming The camera is conditioned by what is happening It lives for the other In this same sense the ideas are secondary They need to be left to one side both in filming and in editing these process must be open to chance so that they can find the best possible arrangement Expressive force rules Mean-ing is postponed It is left up to the spectator As a result the editing is conditional on the protagonistsrsquo own pace and should serve to ldquoenhancerdquo them And after the first edit has been completed if we decide a Voice Over is required this will not be just an explanatory resource but a medium of dramatization and contrast

Zinegoak the Bilbao International Gay- Lesbian-Trans Film Festival was launched in 2004 The aim is to bring to a Bilbao audience (and a wider Basque one) a type of cinema that is independent social and vindicatory that is entirely absent from the Basque commercial circuit Its end denounce the violation of Human Rights on the LGTB community all over the globe show the sexual and affective diversity and become a meeting point throughout high-quality films Since a very modest start it has become one the most important festival in the European scene with more than 9 venues more than 80 films and proyections in a docen towns in Euskadi
