Las artes de calle inundan LeioaYa está aquí uno de los eventos más importantes para Leioa y los y las leioaztarras. Umore Azoka despliega sus alas y nos ofrece cuatro días con las mejores actuaciones de artistas callejeros en cualquier punto de nuestra localidad.

Una magnífica oportunidad para disfrutar de los mejores espectáculos en nuestras calles y en directo. Durante estos días, Leioa se convierte en punto de encuentro para muchas personas de distintos puntos de Euskadi, del Estado e incluso extranjeras, que acuden por distintos motivos; unas para disfrutar de esta magnífica selección de espectáculos en vivo, otras para ofrecer sus trabajos al público de Leioa, y otras muchas para elegir, aquí en Leioa, qué espectáculos quieren exportar a sus propias Ferias.

A todas y cada una de ellas darles nuestra bienvenida y recordarles que Leioa cuenta con una oferta de gran calidad hostelera y comercial. Leioa es una ciudad viva que redobla sus esfuerzos para ofrecer el mejor de los servicios y la mejor acogida a este gran número de personas que nos visitan.

También quiero dar las gracias a todas las personas que viven en Leioa, por el esfuerzo que hacen durante estas fechas, tanto a nivel profesional en sus negocios, como en el personal, ya que también se altera el día a día con cortes de calle y algunos contratiempos, con el objetivo de ofrecer la mejor Umore Azoka. Y, cómo no, agradecer al área de Cultura del Ayuntamiento de Leioa, a cada una de las personas que lo componen, su dedicación especial, interés y trabajo para que durante estos días todo salga perfecto.

Leioa se convierte así en el centro de la actividad artística y cultural de nuestro país con tantos escenarios siempre prometedores, en su apuesta por la calidad, la variedad y la profesionalidad de los y las artistas de calle. Las alas a las que nos referíamos de principio, ya vuelan.

Dicho esto, solo queda disfrutar de esta programación preparada con detalle, mucho mimo y grandes dosis de ilusión.

Street arts take Leioa One of the most important events for Leioa and its citizens is upon us. The Umore Azoka festival spreads its wings and offers us four days full of performances by street artists in every nook and cranny of town.

An excellent opportunity to enjoy the best live shows in our streets. During these days, Leioa will become the meeting point for many people from different places in the Basque Country, the State and even from abroad who will come for different reasons: some of them to enjoy this great selection of live shows, whereas others will have the aim to display their work to the public in Leioa; additionally, there will also be people who will come to Leioa in order to choose the shows they want to export to their own festivals.

I wish to welcome each one of them and remind them that Leioa boasts a wide array of quality hospitality and commercial establishments. Leioa is a vibrant city redoubling its efforts in order to offer the best services and reception to this large number of visitors.

I would also like to thank all the residents in Leioa, for the effort made these days, both professionally in their businesses and personally, since the everyday life changes as a result of street cuts and some setbacks with the purpose of providing the best Umore Azoka festival. I must of course also thank the Department of Culture of the Leioa City Council and everyone comprising it for their particular dedication, interest and work to ensure that everything goes smoothly these days.

Thus, Leioa is going to become the hub for artistic and cultural activity in our country, with many stages that will be promising as regards quality, variety and professionalism of the street artists. The wings we mentioned at the beginning are already flying high.

That said, it only remains to enjoy this programme prepared in detail, with great care and a huge dose of excitement.

Welcome one and all to another fabulous event!

Bienvenidas, bienvenidos a una edición bárbara

On 22 May last, just as we were about to bring the curtain down on Umore Azoka 2016, we thought we would have time to grow a beard before the next edition, and yet… almost without noticing, here it is!

We are delighted to reach our 18th edition, and for yet another year we will be seeing the streets of Leioa enjoying four days of culture, Street Arts, and a festive spirit. Fifty companies -22 from Euskadi-The Basque Country, 20 from the rest of Spain, and eight from abroad- will fill each corner of our city with more than a hundred performances of their shows involving theatre, dance, circus, music, clowns, magic… all the product of professionalism, talent, intense creative processes, and a great deal of hard work. We are very lucky because many of them will be premiered here.

Artistic creation, working in tandem with the sector, and audience participation are the pillars underpinning our festival, which looks upon the street as the finest stage. That is why we like to say that the Umore Azoka is a bit of a Celestina (admittedly a slightly bearded one), as a procuress who insists on arranging a tryst between performers and audiences.

These performers and audiences are joined by hundreds of professionals -some of whom have come a very long way – who make the most of the opportunity Leioa gives them to attend in person to an excellent artistic programme that will provide the inspiration for the design of their own schedules at what is a veritable market fair for the street arts, as well as an arena and forum for discussion; in short, an unmissable event. They will mix with thousands upon thousands of spectators, wearing out the soles of their shoes in their hunt for a look, a knowing smile, and most elusively of all, surprise and excitement.

The Street Arts provide fun and excitement, they are challenging, making you feel, think, imagine and dream, so then let’s feel, think, imagine and dream, let them challenge us and move us. Let’s get up close. Let’s unite. Together. The street is ours, of course it is. And this edition, too, is going to be fabulous.

El pasado 22 de mayo, a punto de terminar Umore Azoka 2016, pensábamos que nos iba a salir barba hasta que llegase la siguiente edición y… sin casi darnos cuenta ¡ya está aquí!

Celebramos que cumplimos 18 y, otro año más, durante cuatro días, la cultura, las Artes de Calle y el espíritu festivo se apoderan de Leioa. 50 compañías -22 de Euskadi, 20 del Estado y 8 internacionales- llenarán cada rincón de nuestra ciudad con más de un centenar de representaciones de sus espectáculos de teatro, danza, circo, música, clown, magia… resultado todos ellos de profesionalidad, talento, intensos procesos de creación y mucho trabajo. Somos afortunados, disfrutaremos de muchos de ellos en primicia.

La creación artística, el trabajo codo con codo con el sector y la participación del público son los pilares sobre los que se asienta esta nuestra feria, que encuentra en la calle el mejor de los escenarios. Por eso nos gusta decir que Umore Azoka es una especie de Celestina (un poco barbuda, eso sí) que se empeña en que surja el idilio entre artistas y espectadores.

A artistas y público se suman cientos de profesionales -algunos venidos desde muy lejos- que encuentran en Leioa una oportunidad de ver en vivo un programa artístico excelente en el cual inspirarse para el diseño de sus programaciones, un verdadero mercado de las artes de calle, un punto de encuentro, un foro de reflexión, en definitiva, una cita imprescindible. Se mezclarán con miles y miles de espectadores y desgastarán las suelas de los zapatos en busca de una mirada, una sonrisa cómplice, el más difícil todavía, la sorpresa y la emoción.

Las Artes de Calle divierten, emocionan, provocan, hacen sentir, pensar, imaginar, soñar, así que sintamos, pensemos, imaginemos, soñemos, dejemos que nos provoquen, que nos conmuevan. Acerquémonos. Unámonos. Juntos. La calle es nuestra, claro que sí. Y esta edición, también, va a ser bárbara.

18 YEARS, 18 WAYS

1 Descárgate la APP de Umore Azoka (Google Play y Apple Store). Lo tendrás todo al alcance de la mano.

2 Presta atención a las pistas que cada compañía da sobre su espectáculo. En esta revista encontrarás claves en forma de iconos que te ayudarán mucho.

3 Planifícate, busca qué es lo que más te interesa y haz tu propio recorrido...

4 o déjate llevar. Quizás en el camino encuentres la razón de tu viaje.

5 Respeta a los artistas y su obra. Es fundamental para que todos podamos pasar un buen rato, pero más para ellos, ya que Umore Azoka es un escaparate en el que se muestran para vender su trabajo a otros profesionales.

6 El tamaño importa. Si no puedes o no quieres sentarte y tu altura puede interferir en la visión de los demás, sitúate al fondo.

7 Cuatro personas sentadas ven mejor que una de pie. No esperes a que te lo pidan. Crea tu espacio y siéntate en el suelo para que puedas compartir la experiencia con más gente.

8 Los últimos no son los primeros. Busca siempre el mejor ángulo de vista, pero recuerda que somos muchas personas y que todas tenemos el mismo derecho.

9 No dejes solos a los más pequeños. Comparte con ellos la experiencia de las artes de calle. Y si en la familia hay algún miembro de 4 patas, cuida también de él, no lo dejes suelto.

10 Levanta la mano siempre que los artistas reclamen colaboración. Y sigue sus indicaciones en todo momento, tanto si te sacan a la palestra como si no.

11 Sonríe, llora, aplaude, juega, emociónate... Ellos tam-bién te están viendo a ti.

12 Deja y déjate sorprender. Si ya has visto el espectáculo, recuerda que al mismo tiempo pueden estar sucediendo otros tan buenos en algún otro escenario.

13 Fíjate en cómo se transforma el espacio urbano. A partir de ahora lo verás con otros ojos.

14 Si ves un banco, siéntate; si ves una fuente, bebe; si ves un wc, úsalo. Nunca sabes cuándo podrás volver a tenerlo a mano.

15 Deja todas tus preocupaciones en modo silencio (esto incluye el móvil). Pocas cosas son tan importantes como el aquí y el ahora.

16 Mira con tus propios ojos, olvídate de hacer fotos y videos con el móvil.

17 Comparte, recomienda, comenta... Una conversación so-bre lo vivido puede enriquecer la experiencia. De viva voz y también #UmoreAzokaLeioa.

18 No dejes que te lo cuenten, ven a Leioa y presta atención al más mínimo detalle. En cualquier lugar puede estar ese destello que te sorprenderá.

8 The last shall not be the first. It’s fair to try and get the best viewing angle, but remember we are a lot of people and we all have the same rights.

9 Don’t leave children unattended. Enjoy experiencing the street arts with them. And if you have a four-legged family member, keep it under control and don’t let it off the lead.

10 Put your hand up whenever performers ask for help. Fo-llow their instructions at all times, regardless of whether or not they bring you out in front of the audience.

11 Laugh, cry, clap, play, engage... They’re also watching you.

12 Live and let live! If you’ve already seen the show, remember that there might be others that are just as good being performed just around the corner.

13 Notice how the urban landscape is being transformed. From now on you’ll be seeing it in a completely different way.

14 If you see a bench, sit down; if you see a fountain, have a drink; if you see a toilet, use it. You never know when you might find another one.

15 Put all your cares and worries into silent mode (including your mobile). There are few things as important as the here and now.

16 Use your own eyes to see, and forget about taking photos and videos with your mobile.

17 Share, recommend, comment... Chatting about what you’ve seen can enrich the experience. Out aloud and also at #UmoreAzokaLeioa.

Cuando dependemos de otra persona, cuan-do ya no podemos valernos por nosotros mismos… ¿cómo actúan los demás? ¿Estará otra persona ahí para servirnos de apoyo?

Este dúo de la tolosarra Amaia Elizaran y el zumaiarra Jaiotz Osa, que se estrenó el pasa-do mes de septiembre en el Festival Dantza Hirian, nace de la investigación de movimien-tos contraponiendo riesgo y sensibilidad me-diante la técnica del contact.

Los cuerpos se suman, se mimetizan y el sentido de uno está en el otro, llegando un momento en el que los límites de cada uno se difunden en un punto donde la forma estética se deforma.

“Negua” es la transformación en movimien-to de los ritos del final del invierno en Euskal Herria, un país en el que la efervescencia de los carnavales da paso a otra estación, a la renovación de la naturaleza.

El espectáculo parte de la simbología y mito-logía vasca para trazar un recorrido emocional en el que el movimiento ritual y la danza tradi-cional se aúnan para lograr un único objetivo: superar la noche y salir del invierno.

Porque hoy es aún más necesario volver a las raíces.

When we depend on other people, when we can no longer fend for ourselves…how do others respond? Will someone be there to help us?

The show by this duo formed by Amaia Eli-zaran, from the Basque town of Tolosa, and Britain’s John Kendall, which premiered last September at the Dantza Hirian Festival, is the outcome of an exploration of movements that juxtapose risk and sensitivity through the tech-nique of contact.

Their bodies combine, mimicking each other, with the meaning of one being reflected in the other, reaching a moment in which each one merges into a point where the aesthetic form is distorted.

“Negua”, meaning winter in Basque, is the transformation into movement of the final rites of winter in Euskal Herria, the Basque Country, a land in which the effervescence of the carni-vals ushers in another season, giving way to the renewal of nature.

The show uses Basque symbolism and mytho-logy to map out an emotional journey in which ritual movement and traditional dance combine for a sole purpose: to banish the dark and leave winter behind.

For it’s now more necessary than ever to return to one’s roots.

Juan Palomo ya está aquí, vendiendo sus exquisitas palomitas de maíz. Su elegante presencia, su carro y el olor de las palomitas conquistan la calle. Entre paquete y paquete, mientras se calienta la próxima tanda de pa-lomitas, Juan Palomo se entrega a diferentes situaciones en las que consigue, mediante el humor, la música en directo y el circo, que el público participe activamente, aprovechando cada ocasión para transformar la venta de pa-lomitas en una experiencia festiva, llena de picardía y frescura. Todo ello aderezado con su justo punto de sal.

Here comes Juan Palomo, selling his delicious popcorn. His elegant attire, his cart and the smell of popcorn fill the street. Between packet and packet, while the next batch of popcorn heats up, Juan Palomo conjures up different situations in which he uses humour, live music and circus acts to fully engage his audience, making the most of each opportunity to trans-form the sale of popcorn into a festive occa-sion, full of pranks and spontaneity. All seaso-ned with just the right amount of salt.

“El fin de las cosas” es un espectáculo de danza contemporánea que gira en torno a cómo nos relacionamos, las decisiones que tomamos y cómo éstas afectan a la persona que tenemos al lado; un espectáculo sobre la acción, la reacción o la no-acción, la inercia, las debilidades, la pérdida de ritmo, la falta de control, lo animal, las probabilidades y el azar, sobre esa frontera entre lo que callamos y lo que hacemos.

Garazi López de Armentia, artista polifacética y gestora de la Sala Baratza, y Aritz López, Premio Umore Azoka 2016 al mejor espectá-culo de compañía emergente con Larrua, for-man parte junto a Ana Vallés y Ainara LeGar-don de este equipo liderado por la leioaztarra Eva Guerrero.

“El fin de las cosas” [The end of things] is a contemporary dance show that deals with how we relate to each other, the decisions we make, and how these affect the person next to us; a show about action, reaction, inertia, weaknes-ses, the loss of rhythm, a lack of control, our animal side, probabilities and the vagaries of fortune, about that boundary between what we keep to ourselves and what we do.

Garazi López de Armentia, a multifaceted per-former and manager of the Baratza Club, and Aritz López, winner of the Umore Azoka Prize 2016 for the Best Emerging Company with La-rrua, together with Ana Vallés and Ainara Le-Gardon make up this team led by Eva Guerrero, a local girl from Leioa.

Fidel y Capulita, dos entrañables personajes, viajeros, circenses, soñadores y compañeros, van por la vida con un antiguo baúl a cuestas, siempre dispuestos, preparados para el gran momento de encontrar a un nuevo público al que sorprender y divertir.

Malabares con pelotas, hula hoops, un baúl donde suceden numerosas acrobacias y la participación del público son los ingredientes del primer espectáculo de esta compañía de origen bonaerense creada en 2015 y en el que a través de simples situaciones, las técni-cas de circo, el humor y el teatro se fusionan en una puesta en escena dinámica y divertida para toda la familia.

Fidel and Capulita, two sweet characters, lo-vers of travel and the circus, dreamers and friends, make their way through life carrying an old trunk, always ready, always prepared for that great moment when they encounter a new audience to amaze and entertain.

Juggling with balls, hula hoops, a trunk used for acrobatic acts and audience participation are the ingredients for this company’s first show. The company is from Buenos Aires, and was created in 2015. It presents simple situa-tions in which circus techniques, humour and theatre merge in a dynamic and fun performan-ce for all the family.

Txema es el bueno del barrio. Todo el mundo le adora... Ahora, para colmo, le ha tocado la lotería, 6 millones de euros ni más ni me-nos, y ha decidido donarlo todo a una buena causa. Sus amigos, hartos de tanta flantropía y tanto pensar en los demás, tienen otros pla-nes para el dinero...

Un boleto premiado, al menos dos idiotas, prácticamente un triángulo amoroso y cuatro amigos con derecho a robo... ¡Qué alegría mas grande!

Una comedia de situación comprometida, absurda y gamberra. El público, parte activa del espectáculo, seguirá el recorrido de esta banda de ladrones de poca monta.

Txema is the local nice guy. Everybody loves him... Now, to cap it all, he has won the lottery, 6 million euros no less, and he has decided to donate it to a charitable cause. His friends, sick of so much “Mr Nice Guy” and thinking about others all the time, have other plans for the money…

A winning ticket, at least two idiots, practically a threesome, and four friends with a licence to steal... What fun!

A comedy involving an embarrassing, absurd and rowdy situation. The audience, an active part of the show, will follow the route of this inept bunch of crooks.

Dos naves interestelares tripuladas por dos as-tronautas circulan por las calles sorprendiendo a los viandantes. Sus trayectorias se cruzan y chocan en una plaza. Como en todo accidente de tráfico deberán arreglar los papeles del segu-ro. En plena discusión, tratando de entenderse, se quitan los cascos y la situación da un giro inesperado: son dos primates, pero de especies distintas.

“Primatium” es la primera creación de esta nue-va compañía integrada por Bego Martín Treviño y Raúl Camino, artistas de larga trayectoria en compañías de teatro de calle como Zanguango o Pez Limbo. Una visión de la carrera espacial “re-evolucionaria” y en clave de humor, que pone en duda las teorías de Darwin y el con-cepto de mascota. Será difícil saber quién es la evolución de quién.

Two interstellar spaceships crewed by two as-tronauts travel through the streets much to the surprise of passers-by. Their paths cross and they crash into each other in a square. As in any normal road accident, they have to do the insurance paperwork. As they argue, trying to understand each other, they remove their hel-mets and things take a sudden turn: they are two primates, although belonging to different species.“Primatium” is the first show by this new com-pany made up of Bego Martín Treviño and Raúl Camino, artists with protracted track records in street theatre companies such as Zanguango and Pez Limbo. An amusing “re-evolutionary” take on the space race that will cast doubt on Darwin’s theories and the concept of pets. It will be difficult to decide who has descended from whom.

Descubrir cómo a veces los caminos del laberin-to de la vida de dos personas se entrecruzan y desde ese preciso instante no es posible seguir siendo quien se era.

Descubrir ese lugar donde impera la pasión por la danza y donde del cruce de lenguajes como el break dance y el hip-hop surge algo nuevo bajo la mirada de una tercera persona que viene de la danza contemporánea. Algo nuevo e inde-finido, pero que al mismo tiempo define a los dos (o, mejor dicho, a los tres).

Después de “4x4”, Premio Umore Azoka 2013 al Mejor Espectáculo de Euskadi, y “El Show del espectador” (2015) llega de nuevo a Leioa esta nueva creación de calle a cargo de la compañía de Asier Zabaleta.

Discovering how two people’s paths someti-mes cross in the maze of life, and from that very moment they can no longer be the same as they were.

Discovering that place where a passion for dance dominates, and where the crossover of languages such as breakdance and hip-hop produces something new under the watchful eye of a third person from the field of contem-porary dance. Something new and indistinct, yet which at the same time defines them both (or rather, all three of them).

Following “4x4”, winner of the Umore Azoka Prize 2013 for the Best Basque Show, and “El Show del espectador” (2015), Leioa welcomes this new show by Asier Zabaleta’s company.

Una joven transita un cable y en su caminar deposita las experiencias que le ha brindado la vida: la cultura tradicional y la expresión contemporánea en una búsqueda de identi-dad, una identidad forjada desde las raíces de la tierra, una identidad en constante evolu-ción. Un concepto con el que muchas perso-nas se sentirán identificadas.

Circo, danza y cultura se entretejen en un es-pectáculo poético, emotivo y lleno de carácter en el que el pueblo vasco y sus tradiciones cambiarán de escenario.

Garazi&Cía es una nueva compañía vasca crea-da por la artista Garazi Pascual Esnaola, quien tras diplomarse en Circo Contemporáneo en 2015 en la Academia Fratellini de París, vuelve a su tierra natal para desarrollar en ella su arte.

A young woman makes her way along a wire, and as she does so she reflects upon the expe-riences life has given her: traditional culture and a contemporary outlook in a search for identity, an identity forged from the roots of the earth, an identity in constant evolution. A concept with which many people will feel identified.

Circus, dance and culture interweave in a poetic, moving spectacle that is full of character and in which the Basque people and their traditions will change their setting.

Garazi&Cía is a new Basque company created by the artist Garazi Pascual Esnaola, who after qualifying in Contemporary Circus in 2015 from the Académie Fratellini in Paris returns to the land of her birth to pursue her art here.

Una pared es una frontera en la sociedad ac-tual, una división entre gentes de diferentes naciones, culturas o religiones. Y en lugar de aceptar las diferencias y con ellas enrique-cernos mutuamente, construimos paredes y alimentamos el miedo.

¿Qué impulsa a una persona a tomar la deci-sión de traspasar una frontera? ¿Qué sonidos son los que se oyen al otro lado?

“70+1” está inspirado en Euskal Herria y la Guerra Civil, en las huidas al monte, en el pensamiento único impuesto a la fuerza y en la decisión de algunos de huir de ello.

A wall is a frontier in today’s society, a barrier between people from different countries, cultu-res or religions. And instead of accepting our differences and using them for our mutual enri-chment, we build walls and generate fear.

What drives someone to make the decision to cross a frontier? What sounds do they hear on the other side?

“70+1” is based on Euskal Herria, the Basque Country, and the Spanish Civil War, on fleeing into the hills, on a single set of values imposed by force, and the decision some make to run away from it all.

Pero a pesar de todo seguimos siendo diferentes, con distintas maneras de sentir y pensar... aunque aún es necesario observar en lugar de mirar, escuchar y no solo a oír, hacer y no esperar a que llegue, crear, sentir, vivir. Solo de esa manera seremos capaces de entender a quien está a nuestro lado y sa-bremos convivir.

We’re all in the same boat, swept along by the frantic pace of life. A society in which we appear destined to be increasingly similar, in-creasingly less critical... Yet despite everything, we have our different ways of feeling and thin-king... although we still need to look instead of see, listen and not only hear, do and not wait for something to happen, create, feel, live. Only in that way will we be able to understand the person beside us and learn how to coexist.

Cuatro ancianas indignadas, cuatro abuelas revolucionarias y reivindicativas, conscientes de la situación de desencanto, insatisfacción y descontento social y empapadas de todo lo que ven y escuchan en los medios y en la calle, deciden tomarse la justicia por su mano y hacer una nueva revolución, un nuevo movi-miento que despierte al mundo con métodos agresivamente absurdos y protestas radical-mente inconvenientes.

“Femmes” es un canto reivindicativo y políti-camente incorrecto de un grupo de ancianas reconvertidas en neoactivistas sociales que desde el humor hacen de la provocación una nueva forma de vida, de lucha y protesta, un espectáculo de ficción cuyo parecido con la coincidencia es pura realidad.

Four grumpy old women, four grouchy, subver-sive grandmothers, aware of the current state of social disenchantment, dissatisfaction and discontent, and sick and tired of everything they see and hear in the media and in the street. They decide to take the law into their own hands and spark a revolution, a new movement that will wake people up with aggressively absurd methods and radically inconvenient protests.

“Femmes” is the protesting and politically inco-rrect voice of a group of old ladies reconverted into social neo-activists who use humour to make provocation a new way of life, of struggle and protest, a work of fiction in which any re-semblance to coincidence is pure reality.

The dancer and choreographer Jaiotz Osa pre-sents this piece that deals with all those tiny im-pulses that paralyse us for just a few seconds, ideas that cross our minds and make us aware of the fact that we might be in danger, of what happens when we take risks. Because we don’t always prefer the devil we know to the promise of something good to come. A fresh, visual solo full of images, with a physi-cal language and a type of dynamic, energetic movement that seeks to connect with the setting and the audience, and give free rein to imagi-nation.

Cuatro jóvenes se encuentran en una plaza cualquiera. Suena la música y empiezan a bailar, algo cotidiano para ellos, su forma de expresión. Bailar les hace ser ellos mismos. La calle, su espacio vital, les une.

“Topa” es la unión de cuatro intérpretes de dos compañías que, preservando sus oríge-nes artísticos, se unen en esta pieza callejera, vital y enérgica que mezcla el hip hop de los Brodas Bros y la danza tradicional vasca de Kukai, coproducida por Umore Azoka Leioa y el festival Sismògraf de Olot, y en la que el espacio urbano se transformará en espacio escénico con la colaboración del público.

El mundo se halla inmerso en un gran caos. Las brigadas oscuras pretenden alcanzar to-dos los rincones del mundo para establecer su ley y orden a base del ruido de sus tambo-res. Presta atención para que no te invada ni te toque el fuego, de lo contrario, la oscuridad te tragará. ¡Cuidado!

En 2012 este grupo de teatro de Lekeitio puso en marcha un proyecto inspirado en los corre-foc del Mediterráneo, reinterpretándolos bajo el prisma de las tradiciones de Eukal Herria. “Anabasa” es la nueva producción con la que celebran su quinto aniversario, un espectácu-lo que combina música en vivo y pirotecnia y convierte al público en parte activa.

Un recorrido con todo tipo de efectos pirotéc-nicos y un final espectacular.

Four young people meet in a square somewhe-re. Music plays and they start to dance, just an everyday occurrence for them, their way of expressing themselves. Dancing lets them be themselves. The street, the setting for their lives, brings them together.

“Topa” is the combination of four performers from two companies that while preserving their artistic roots join forces in this street-based, lively and energetic piece that blends the hip hop of the Brodas Bros and the traditional Bas-que dancing of Kukai, co-produced by Umo-re Azoka Leioa and the Sismògraf Festival of Olot, and in which the urban setting becomes the performance area in collusion with the au-dience.

The world is immersed in total chaos. Dark hor-des want to reach into every corner of the world to impose their version of law and order to the beat of drums. Look out to make sure you’re not caught up or touched by the fire, otherwise darkness will envelop you. Be careful!

In 2012, this theatre group from the Basque se-aside town of Lekeitio embarked upon a project inspired by the correfocs (fire-runs) that are a typical feature of Catalan festivals, reinterpreting them through the prism of Basque traditions. “Anabasa” (Chaos) is their new show produced to celebrate their fifth anniversary, a performance that combines live music and fireworks, with the audience playing an active part.

En “Baldin bada” conoceremos de cerca los disparates y locuras de una peculiar pintora y un músico. Para ella la simple acción de pin-tar es toda una aventura; además, viendo el público presente, decide que hoy es el día en el que probar todas las ocurrencias que siem-pre quiso hacer. Es muy torpe, pero su torpeza le lleva también a mostrarnos grandes habili-dades: pintar con los pies, hacer equilibrios imposibles, cantar en posturas muy raras... Todo ello acompañado por las melodías y ha-bilidades musicales de su compañero, cóm-plice de sus aventuras pictóricas.

Las travesuras y aventuras de dos tiernos personajes en una combinación de circo, contorsión, acrobacia, teatro, danza, música y pintura.

Una sociedad con ideales de película ameri-cana amenaza nuestras vidas desde que na-cemos. Películas de triunfadores, de personas que a base de esfuerzo consiguen llegar a ser alguien en el mundo. Pero lo cierto es que, en los tiempos que corren, la realidad laboral de un gran porcentaje de la sociedad, sobre todo de los jóvenes, es nefasta. Un cuartucho a modo de camerino improvi-sado, dos disfraces poco favorecedores, cua-tro actores, dos mujeres y dos hombres. Nos acercan a sus vidas, haciendo un recorrido por sus mundos internos, sus pasados, sus miedos, sus expectativas, sus fantasías...

In “Baldin bada” (If…) we will take a closer look at the crazy, madcap activities of a rather unusual painter and a musician. For the pain-ter, the simple act of painting is quite an adven-ture; what’s more, seeing the audience in front of her, she decides that today is the day to try out all those brilliant ideas she always wanted to carry out. She’s very clumsy, but her clumsi-ness also helps her to show off her great skills: painting with her feet, unbelievable balancing acts, singing in very strange positions... All accompanied by the musical prowess and melodies of her companion, her partner in her painting adventures.

The pranks and adventures of two sweet cha-racters in a cocktail of circus, contortion, acro-batics, theatre, dance, music and painting.

A society with the ideals of an American mo-vie blights our lives from the moment we are born. Movies about winners, about people who through their own effort manage to become so-meone in the world. But the truth is that in the state the world is at this moment, the job situa-tion for a large percentage of society, above all for young people, is simply terrible. A tiny corner serves as an improvised dressing room, two rather unflattering costumes, four performers, two women and two men. They show us their lives, taking us on a trip through their inner selves, their pasts, their fears, their hopes, their dreams...

A través de la mirilla observarás a una extra-ña familia, seres extraordinarios, abominables monstruosidades: Junior, hombre esqueleto de 30 años que vive atrapado en la red de su madre, Alma, la viuda negra que con sus habi-lidades le manipula y controla para que se que-de eternamente con ella. Su vida se desarrolla bajo la mirada feroz de su difunto esposo, todo orquestado por el jefe de pista, un charlatán que despista y manipula a su público creando confusión y dudas para ganarse el pan de cada día jugando con la ilusión de la gente.

¿Son monstruos o personas normales? ¡Quié-nes somos nosotros para juzgarlo! ¿Somos nosotros mismos tan normales como creemos serlo? Una tragicomedia mágica y grotesca, mezcla de sueños y realidad que nos trans-portará al misterioso mundo del “side show”.

Through the spyhole you will be able to see a strange family, weird individuals, extraordi-nary beings, ghastly monstrosities: Junior, a 30-year-old man skeleton who lives trapped in the web spun by his mother, Alma, the black widow who uses her skills to manipulate and control him so he will remain with her for ever. Their life goes by under the ferocious look of her late husband, all orchestrated by the ring master, a charlatan that misleads and mani-pulates the audience, creating confusion and doubt to earn his daily bread by playing with people’s hopes.

Are they monsters or normal people? Who are we to judge! Are we really as normal as we think we are? A magic yet grotesque tragicomedy, a mixture of dreams and reality that transports us to the mysterious world of the side-show.

¡Compre una nueva y tire la vieja!

Teatro sonoro que mediante la recuperación del placer de jugar aborda el tema de la obso-lescencia programada, tanto de los productos como del propio individuo en su impulso crea-tivo espontáneo.

Productos y personas obsoletas que buscan nuevas facetas o posibilidades de alargar su “vida útil”. Dos recicladores fuera del tiempo en una relación afectiva con unos objetos que les acompañan en un deambular mecánico y onírico, creando una atmósfera llena de viejos colores y sonidos de otras épocas.

No son dos topmanta, no. Tampoco dos fe-riantes de mercadillo. Son dos cómicos liqui-dando todo su atrezzo. ¿Qué por qué? No es difícil adivinarlo…

Dos veteranos actores de una vieja compañía se ven obligados a cerrar ante la precariedad de sus contratos. La venta de todo su material servirá de pretexto para repasar entre melan-colía y mala leche su trayectoria artística y a la vez presentar una última propuesta para sobrevivir: “El Salchi-Auto”.

Con el convencimiento de que solo la vía gastronómica les podrá sacar del bache, se lanzan a la venta de un producto genuino: la salchicha agridulce. Un proyecto con el que piensan girar por las diferentes plazas aman-sando la resaca de sus habituales especta-dores.

Buy a new one and throw the old one out!

Sound theatre that recovers the pleasure of pla-ying to address the subject of the expiry dates of both people themselves and their sponta-neous creative impulses.

Obsolete products and people that seek new ways or possibilities for extending their “useful lives”. Two timeless recycling machines in an affective relationship with the objects accom-panying them on a mechanical and dreamlike journey, conjuring up an atmosphere full of fa-ded colours and sounds from the past.

They are not two Topmanta, two illegal street hawkers, no they are not. Neither are they two street market sellers. They are two comedians selling off all their props. The reason? It’s not difficult to guess why…

Two veteran actors from an old company they have to close down because of the precarious nature of their contracts. The sale of all their equipment will serve as a pretext for looking back with sorrow and anger at their artistic ca-reers, and at the same time present their latest scheme for surviving: their sausage car, the “El Salchi-Auto”.

Convinced that only food will get them out of their predicament, they start selling a genuine product: a sweet and sour sausage. A project they plan to take on tour, calming the hangover of their faithful audience.

Dos seres opuestos se encuentran en una escena bañada por el surrealismo, donde los colores marcan su ritmo, y en la que el amor, guiado por el circo y la danza, es pieza clave durante todo el espectáculo.

Una obra totalmente circular planteada para que el espectador se sitúe a 360º, como el amor, la vida, que nos hace girar. A través del movimiento viajaremos por emociones, en-cuentros y desencuentros.

Marco Vargas & Chloé Brûlé asumen nueva-mente el reto de enfrentarse a una creación para espacios singulares, acercándose en esta ocasión a ideas como la individualidad y la solidaridad, las fronteras y la libertad, la inmovilidad frente a la creatividad o el caos frente a la armonía, siempre manteniendo el compromiso con el espacio y los vínculos que surgen en él.

Un naufragio es el punto de partida. Seres humanos desubicados y abocados a rela-cionarse, a buscar una salida. La necesidad de moverse marca las pautas en el trayecto y con la ayuda de simples elementos abrirán caminos construyendo y conquistando espa-cios. “Naufragio universal”, recién estrenado en abril en Dansa Valencia, buscará revelar el espíritu épico del hombre a través de su fragilidad e instinto de supervivencia.

Marco Vargas & Chloé Brûlé once again accept the challenge of presenting a show for unique places, on this occasion tackling ideas such as individuality and solidarity, frontiers and freedom, stasis versus creativity or chaos com-pared to harmony, always upholding a com-mitment to space and the links that arise in it.

The point of departure is a shipwreck. Human beings marooned and forced to get on, to look for a way out. The need to move signals the route on the journey, and with the help of sim-ple things they will open up paths, creating and overcoming spaces. “Naufragio universal” (Universal shipwreck), recently premiering in April in Dança Valencia, will seek to reveal humanity’s epic spirit through its fragility and instinct for survival.

Un espacio de tránsito, una agente comercial, un trabajador encargado del mantenimiento, una teleoperadora un tanto peculiar y un ado-lescente adicto a su teléfono móvil serán los personajes que darán comienzo a una historia aparentemente divertida donde las tecnologías de última generación y la existencia de cáno-nes psicosociales se encuentran integrados en sus comportamientos y relaciones. Pero un su-ceso inesperado cambiará el transcurso de sus vidas y la percepción de su realidad. ¿Qué esta pasando? ¿Estamos despiertos? ¿Nos hemos quedado dormidos? Wake up!… Wake Ap!… Wake App!

Una reflexión sobre la despersonalización, la pérdida de la identidad, la dependencia y el olvido hacia los valores más primitivos y esen-ciales de nuestra vida, expresados a través de la música en directo, la acrodanza, técnicas circenses, el teatro y el lenguaje audiovisual.

Son tantos los cambios y tan lentos que nos habituamos sin apenas enterarnos. Cambios sociales, geopolíticos, culturales... Algunos apenas perceptibles y otros que por suceder tan lejos hace que nos creamos inmunes. Pero todo llega. La vida pasa veloz frente al televisor. Veloz y distante, como si no nos perteneciera... Estamos tan cómodos con nuestros problemas... No va a suceder nunca, nos decimos. Me siento seguro en casa, en mi barrio, en mi tierra... Pero un día cualquie-ra de un mes cualquiera, en una fracción de segundo o en 10 años, que para el caso es lo mismo, algo sucede y nuestro entorno des-aparece para siempre. Aquí todo se ha aca-bado. Todo. Tan sólo nos queda el horizonte.

A transit area, a sales rep, a worker in charge of maintenance, a rather strange call centre ope-rator and a teenager obsessed with his mobile phone are the characters that embark upon an apparently funny story in which latest generation technologies and the existence of psychosocial norms are embedded in their behaviours and re-lationships. But an unexpected event will change their lives and the way they see reality. What’s happening? Are we awake? Have we fa-llen asleep? Wake up!…Wake Ap!…Wake App!

A reflection on depersonalisation, the loss of identity, dependence and the forgetting of the most primitive and essential values of our life, expressed through live music, acro dance, cir-cus techniques, theatre and audiovisual langua-ge. Wake App! A play on words for the name of a show that screams Wake up! An awakening of distractions, of awareness, of our values and of our reason that defines us as human beings.

There are so many changes and they are so slow that we get used to them without even realising we are doing so. Social, geopolitical, cultural changes... Some that are barely percep-tible and others that take place so far away that we think we are immune to them. But everything comes around. Life goes by quickly in front of the TV. Fast and distant, as if it did not belong to us... We are so much at ease with our problems. It’ll never happen, we say to ourselves. I feel safe at home, in my neighbourhood, in my country... But on one day of whatever month, in a fraction of a second, or in ten years’ time, it makes no difference, something happens and our comfort zone disappears for ever. Everything here is gone. Everything. All we have left is the horizon.

Una historia de dos científicos venidos a me-nos que han dedicado su vida a realizar expe-rimentos sin éxito alguno. Su sueño siempre ha sido ser reconocidos por sus compañeros de profesión, por lo que un día deciden llevar a cabo el experimento más grande del mun-do: devolver la vida a una persona. ¿Y que mejor persona para lograr su sueño que Fe-licia, una de las mejores magas del mundo?

Los ilusionados científicos se ponen manos a la obra, pero algo sale mal y Felicia, antes de volver a la vida, pierde su cabeza.

“Felicia, la mujer sin cabeza” (Felicia, the headless woman) tells the story of two scien-tists down on their luck that have devoted their lives to experiments with no success whatsoever. Their dream has always been ack-nowledged by their peers, so one day they de-cide to conduct the world’s biggest experiment: bring someone back to life. And who better to help them achieve their dream than Felicia, one of the world’s finest magicians?

The enthusiastic scientists get down to work, but something goes wrong, and before she can return to life Felicia loses her head.

¿Estáis preparados para los hipnóticos ritmos y los extravagantes arreglos del universo Quilombo? Un grupo que no conoce fronte-ras ni etiquetas musicales posibles y que, a lo largo de los años, ha experimentado con ritmos afrobrasileños y latinoamericanos, sin olvidarse nunca del funk, el hip hop, el reg-gae, el drum’n’bass o algunas músicas de raíz oriental.

Un laboratorio rítmico que ha logrado un soni-do propio e inconfundible en constante meta-morfosis y que hace que cada actuación sea única.

La Guardia Real ha salido de su garita de ma-dera para ampliar su servicio de protección y ayuda a la humanidad. Entrenados para cual-quier tipo de ayuda y servicio, desde ayudar a llevar la compra hasta proteger bebés o cus-todiar fachadas emblemáticas, allí donde van estos tres personajes simpáticos, elegantes, generosos y confiados, se sienten útiles y de-muestran una vez más que “la Guardia Real es la Guardia Real”.

Un espectáculo de improvisación divertido con cualidades transformadoras, que crea empatía y vínculos entre los actores y el pú-blico y refuerza valores como la solidaridad y el altruismo.

Are you ready for the hypnotic rhythms and extravagant arrangements of the Quilombo universe? A group that knows of no possible musical tags or frontiers, and which over the years has experimented with Afro-Brazilian and Latin American rhythms, without ever forgetting funk, hip hop, reggae, drum’n’bass or some roots music of oriental inspiration.

A rhythmic laboratory that has achieved its own inimitable sound that is constantly evolving, and which makes each performance different to the previous one.

The Palace Guards have left their wooden sen-try box to extend their duty of protection and help to the rest of humanity. Trained for any kind of contingency or service, from helping to deliver food to protecting babies and guar-ding landmark buildings, wherever these three friendly, elegant, generous and trusting charac-ters go, they feel useful and prove once again that “you can trust the Palace Guard”.

A show that involves amusing improvisation with transforming qualities, creating empathy and complicity between cast and audience, reinforcing values such as solidarity and sel-flessness.

“Libèlul.la” es una emoción, un sonido, una manera de entender la vida, una palabra in-ventada que se parece a otra palabra, que al fin y al cabo también fue inventada, como todas las palabras… pero “Libèlul.la” hace que la lengua dude cuál es el mejor momento para disparar la ele y hace que, sin querer, la boca se llene de un gusto sonoro que se que-da en el paladar con la sensación de haber dicho una cosa especial. Y entonces, a veces, solo a veces, por la comisura de los labios se escapa una pequeña carcajada y… es en este preciso instante que Libèlul.la toma todo su sentido.

Y si crees que no entiendes nada de lo que acabamos de explicar, cuando estés con gen-te, coge un caramelo de los grandes, póntelo en la boca, grita Libèlul.la con voz alta y deja que ocurran cosas.

“Libèlul.la”, which is based on the Spanish word for dragonfly, is an emotion, a sound, a way of understanding life, a made-up word that looks like another word, which in turn was also invented in its day, like all words… but “Libèlul.la” makes your tongue hesitate over the right moment to fire the L and unwittingly fill your mouth with a sonorous pleasure that lingers on the palate with the feeling of having said something special. And then, sometimes, only sometimes, through the corner of your mouth a little chuckle pops out and… this is preci-sely the moment when Libèlul.la acquires its full meaning.

And if you think you haven’t understood an-ything of what we have just said, when you are with people, take a great big sweet, put it in your mouth, shout Libèlul.la at the top of your voice, and see what happens.

Extremes attract each other…provided that the extremes mutually want to draw closer to each other.

But what happens when a simple everyday si-tuation opens Pandora’s box and everything is turned upside down and chaos reigns?

“Polos” (Poles) is a journey with no fixed hea-ding, a journey to total perdition or to the ab-surd meeting of extremes.

This new project by the company made up of Eva Szwarcer and Emiliano Sanchez Ales-si merges mime, the circus techniques of the aerial hoop, pole dancing, handling props and horizontal juggling, and stone balancing.

A dream...An alarm clock, or everyday nothing-ness... A woman who on any old day wakes up to her normal routine... although today might just not be any old day...perhaps the time has come to break free...

María Villate is from Bilbao, but she has been living in Barcelona since 2002. She is a circus performer, and an explorer of form and move-ment. She is a member of the Tierra Collective, whose show F.I.R.A (19th Winter Circus of the Ateneu Popular de 9 Barris), directed by Jordi Aspa, was awarded the Feten Prize 2016 for the Best Circus-Dance Show. After taking part in sundry artistic projects and companies, per-forming at festivals in Spain, France, Poland, Argentina and Mexico, she is now introducing her solo project “Mutaciones”, an urban per-formance that combines physical theatre and acro dance.

¿Y si los juguetes tuviesen vida propia?

Una instalación de autómatas animados construida a partir del reciclaje de juguetes viejos y monitores antiguos. Encapsuladas en pantallas, diversas escenas creadas con muñecos de plástico conectados a peque-ños mecanismos generan una secuencia de movimiento que el espectador puede activar pulsando un botón rojo.

Una exposición animada, un divertimento poético, una experiencia 3D que evoca el cine de monstruos de serie B, el género pulp y el cómic, pero también al mundo del jugue-te, del reciclaje y de las ferias. Un proyecto artístico dirigido a todo el mundo, abierto en concepto, adaptable a cualquier espacio y que provoca una sonrisa cómplice.

What if toys had a life of their own?

A group of animated automatons built by re-cycling old toys and used screens. Encapsu-lated in displays, several scenes created with plastic puppets, which connected through tiny mechanisms create a moving sequence that the spectator can run by pressing a red button.

A moving exhibition, a poetic amusement, a 3D experience that harks back to horror B mo-vies, the pulp genre and comics, but also to the world of toys, recycling and fairs. An art project for all ages, open in concept, adaptable to any venue, and which elicits a knowing smile.

Esvorellar significa romper o quebrar las aris-tas o cantos de algo. Esvorell es una bús-queda hacia el elemento natural que todos tenemos dentro, un espectáculo cargado de energía, vital, con mucho color y riesgo, don-de la música y danza se interrelacionan al mismo nivel performativo.

Utilizando como referencia los cuatro géne-ros de la danza tradicional y popular catalana (Ball pla, Jota, Contrapàs y Rumba), cada artista reinterpreta individualmente su signi-ficado, para después compartirlo con el resto del grupo a través de un ritual colectivo y re-cuperar aquel espacio en la sociedad donde conectar natura e individuo.

Esvorellar is a Catalan word that means breaking or cracking the edges or sides of something. Esvorell is the search for the na-tural elements we all have inside, a show full of energy, vital, with loads of colour and risk, where music and dance interrelate at the same performance level.

Using as a reference the four genres of tradi-tional, popular Catalan dance (Ball pla, Jota, Contrapàs and Rumba), each artist individually reinterprets their meaning, and then goes on to share it with the rest of the group through a collective ritual, recovering that space in so-ciety where nature and the individual can be connected.

Inspirado por el cuadro “Golconda” de Ma-gritte, este dúo aéreo sugiere una de las preguntas implícitas en el cuadro del pintor surrealista: ¿Cómo pensar al individuo en una sociedad donde la multitud parece absorber-lo todo?. Suspendidas en el aire entre cielo y edificios, invitan al espectador a mirar hacia arriba y a perderse en el imaginario de un “cuadro viviente” hecho de danza aérea, ilu-siones ópticas y poética audiovisual.

Una confrontación entre dos cuerpos aparen-temente miméticos y sincrónicos... pero ¿qué ocurre cuando uno de los personajes empie-za a moverse de manera distinta?. ¿Quizás somos, como en el cuadro de Magritte, una lluvia de personajes, iguales los unos a los otros, en busca de nuestra propia identidad?

Danza vertical y poética visual.

Inspired by the painting “Golconda” by Magrit-te, this aerial duo poses one of the questions implicit in this surrealist picture: How do you imagine the individual in a society in which the crowd seems to absorb everything? Hanging in the air between the sky and buildings, they invi-te spectators to look up and lose themselves in the imagination of a “living picture” composed of aerial dance, optical illusions and audiovi-sual poetics.

A confrontation between two apparently similar and synchronised bodies...but what happens when one of the characters starts moving diffe-rently? Perhaps we are, like in Magritte’s pain-ting, a downpour of characters, all the same as each other, in search of our own identity?

“#7fm” nace de la investigación del movi-miento propio fusionado con estilos urbanos, basado en cambios de dinámica y diferentes texturas que da como resultado la desestruc-turación articular del mismo.

Una pieza muy física (finalista en el 30 Cer-tamen Coreográfico de Madrid, Premio en el Festival Cuerpo Romo y en el III Certamen Coreográfico Danza Xtrema de Cáceres) en la que los bailarines experimentan y su relación va cambiando de intensidad e intenciones.

“#7fm” is the product of an exploration of per-sonal movement blended with urban styles, based on changes in dynamics and different textures that lead to the articular breakdown of the individual.

A very physical piece (shortlisted at the 30th Dance Competition in Madrid, prize-winner at the Cuerpo Romo Festival and at the 3rd Xtre-ma Danza Dance Competition in Caceres) in which the dancers experiment, and their rela-tionship changes in terms of both intensity and intent.

Toda mujer alberga en su interior un ser sal-vaje y libre, una naturaleza instintiva que las diferentes civilizaciones se han esforzado en domesticar a lo largo de la historia. Sus ciclos naturales se han visto obligados a adaptarse a unos ritmos artificiales para complacer a los otros, apagándose así sus dones innatos creativos, instintivos y visionarios.

“Mulïer”, premio Moritz Fira Tàrrega 2016 al mejor estreno de artes de calle, es danza so-bre zancos, equilibrio, movimiento, poesía, fuerza y emociones. Un homenaje a todas las mujeres que durante siglos y siglos de opresión han luchado y siguen luchando para mantener vivo su yo salvaje, y que reclaman su derecho a bailar y correr libremente por las calles y plazas de nuestra sociedad.

Every woman contains a free, feral spirit, an instinctive nature that different cultures throug-hout history have sought to tame. Their natural cycles have been forced to adapt to new artifi-cial rhythms to suit others, so annulling their innate, creative, instinctive and visionary gifts.

“Mulïer” involves dancing on stilts, equilibrium, movement, poetry, strength and emotions. A homage to all those women who over centuries and centuries of oppression have fought, and continue to fight, to keep their wild side alive, and who demand their right to dance and run freely through the streets and squares of our society.

Seis cuerpos sobre el escenario suben, bajan, bailan, pero sobre todo ¡saltan!.

Un espectáculo fresco, visual, en el que los artistas contagiarán al espectador con la ale-gría de su música y las emociones más inten-sas, ejecutando saltos de banquina, vuelos y torres humanas, técnicas acrobáticas de alto nivel, pero también mostrarán su lado más humano con pequeños toques de humor. Una muestra de superación, confianza y entusias-mo.

Momentos, recuerdos y pensamientos. La re-sistencia al viaje, las lágrimas compartidas de la partida, las muertes durante el trayecto, el trauma de la llegada, las negras noches en el extranjero… vidas reflejadas en imágenes que claman por ser reconocidas. Unos impul-sos que jamás conseguirán parar, porque muy poco les queda por perder.

“Frontera” es un poema visual-corporal de esta joven compañía mallorquina que narra una historia de emigrantes, de campos de refugiados, de fronteras, de la pérdida de dig-nidad del ser humano. Un trabajo de teatro gestual delicado, comprometido y lleno de contenido, con imágenes poéticas que conec-tan directamente con una realidad cruda que nos envuelve constantemente.

Six bodies will rise, fall and dance on stage, but most of all they will jump!

It will be a fresh and visual show, where the artists will fill the audience with the joy of their music and the most intense emotions. They will perform banquine jumps, flying acts and human pyramids, high-level acrobatic tech-niques. However, at the same time, they will also show their most human side with a few touches of humour. A clear example of self-improvement, self-confidence and enthusiasm.

Moments, memories and thoughts. A reluc-tance to make the journey, the shared tears on leaving, the deaths on the way, the trauma of the arrival, the dark nights in a foreign land… lives reflected in images that clamour for recog-nition. Impulses that they will never be able to tame, because they have so little left to lose.

“Frontera” (Frontier) is a visual-corporal poem by this young company from Mallorca that tells the story of migrants, refugee camps, frontiers, and the loss of human dignity. A delicate per-formance of gestures that is committed and full of content, with poetic images that connect directly with the crude reality that constantly envelops us.

En ella cinco extraños personajes llegan a la Tierra en misión científica. Su transbordador sufre una avería y en realidad se han trasla-dado a los años 80. Allí se encontrarán con un país lleno de color en el que se empieza a respirar con libertad después de 40 oscuros años: la Movida, Naranjito, el Totus Tuus… Una etapa llena de recuerdos para quienes la vivieron con intensidad y llena de curiosi-dades para quienes que no la conocieron en todo su esplendor.

Following the success of “Business Class” (2013), “Habitus Mundi” (2010) and “Typical” (2008), Nacho Vilar Producciones is embar-king upon its fourth street production.

It tells the story of five strange characters that land on Earth on a scientific mission. Their shuttle has a fault and they are in fact trans-ported back to Spain in the 1980s. There they find a country full of colour in which people can begin to experience freedom after 40 years of darkness: the Madrid scene known as La Movi-da, the World Cup symbolised by Naranjito, the Totus Tuus papal visit…A time brimming with memories for those that lived it to the full and one laden with curiosities for those that did not experience it in its full splendour.

Una explosión... una lluvia de cenizas... el ho-menaje a la vida de un árbol que tiembla y de un vagabundo que baila.

“Silencis” un solo de danza, teatro-visual y clown para la calle, una invitación a compartir, a respirar juntos al ritmo lento y profundo de la vida... y descubrir qué sucede…

A tree whispers: “Stop, because it’s urgent to live; give yourself the time to see again, to re-discover what you know so well that you no longer actually know. The time to listen to the silence and for thoughts to intermingle, to see objects dance, to once again feel boundlessly alive”.

An explosion...a shower of ash...the homage to the life of a tree that trembles and the tramp that dances.

Esteban Adrian Giovinatti, de origen urugua-yo, se formó durante dos años en el arte de la marioneta en el Teatro El Galpón de Mon-tevideo. Interesado especialmente en las for-mas de manipulación tradicional, entre 2002 y 2004 viaja por su país y Brasil experimen-tando con diversas técnicas como teatro de sombras, kuruma Ningyo o microteatro para, a partir de 2005 recorrer Europa con peque-ños espectáculos de títeres adaptados a la calle (“Adagio”, “Surf in USA”, “Laboratoire”) y en 2007 fundar La Malette.

Little Boy reencarna el espíritu del blues. Una fábula musical inspirada por el blues del Mis-sissipi, un universo en miniatura poblado de personajes encantadores.

Esteban Adrian Giovinatti, of Uruguayan ori-gin, trained as a puppeteer for two years at El Galpón Theatre in Montevideo. Especially interested in the traditional forms of puppetry, between 2002 and 2004 he toured his own country and Brazil, experimenting with different techniques such as shadow theatre, Kuruma Ningyo and micro-theatre, and then from 2005 onwards he toured Europe with small puppet shows adapted for the street (“Adagio”, “Surf in USA”, “Laboratoire”), and in 2007 he founded La Malette.

Little Boy reincarnates the spirit of the blues.A musical fable inspired by the Mississippi blues, a miniature universe inhabited by de-lightful characters.

Una forastera abre las tres puertas de su guar-darropa y con ello abre tres mundos: su diario, su galería de tiro, su peep show. Anatómik es un espectáculo de calle burlesco, mezcla jue-go y faquirismo. Un comida incendiada, una depilación espectacular, un disfraz “a medi-da”, un cirugía estética muy chapucera…

Elodie Meissonnier es cofundadora de la com-pañía Makadam Kanibal. En el espectáculo “Sélection Naturelle” encarnaba un personaje que soñaba con parecerse a las mujeres de las revistas. Comienza a investigar a partir de la idea desafortunadamente tan extendida en nuestra sociedad de que para estar guapa hay que sufrir y así surge su primer proyecto de teatro, clown y faquirismo en solitario, que busca hacer reflexionar al público tratando con humor un tema tan delicado.

A stranger opens the three doors of her clothes locker, and in so doing opens up three worlds: her daily one, her shooting gallery, her peep show. Anatomik is a burlesque street perfor-mance that mixes play with the fakir’s art. A burning hot meal, a spectacular hair removal, a bespoke fancy dress, botched plastic sur-gery…

Elodie Meissonnier is the co-founder of the company Makadam Kanibal. In the show “Sé-lection Naturelle” she played a character that dreamed of being like the women she saw in magazines. She began to explore this through an idea that is unfortunately so widespread in our society, that you have to suffer to be beautiful, and this led to her first solo project involving theatre, clowning and the fakir’s art in her quest to make the audience think by using humour to address such a delicate subject.

¿Por qué tendríamos que abandonar nuestro país? ¿Cómo podemos protegernos a nosotros mismos y a los demás al abandonarlo? ¿Cómo decidir cuando no hay opción? Siete destinos, un país imaginario, una lengua inventada, una guerra. Siete historias distintas de personas cu-yas vidas se transforman radicalmente a con-secuencia de la geopolítica. Un espectáculo de gran formato y al mismo tiempo micro, íntimo, nocturno, estático pero para espectadores en movimiento.

Pudding Théâtre es una compañía con 17 años de trayectoria creando espectáculos para el es-pacio público. Entendiendo la ciudad como el mejor de los escenarios posibles, transforman la percepción cotidiana de ésta y salen al encuentro con el público para buscar su empatía y provocar la reflexión sobre uno mismo y sobre los demás, planteando universos paralelos y flashbacks a nuestro pasado y a nuestro contexto histórico.

Why should we have to leave our country? How can we protect ourselves and others when we lea-ve? When do we decide we have no other choi-ce? Seven destinations, an imaginary country, an invented language, a war. Seven different stories about people whose lives are radically trans-formed due to geopolitics. A show with a large format, yet one that is at the same time micro, intimate, nocturnal, static, but for spectators that are on the move.

Pudding Théâtre is a company with a 17-year track record of creating shows for public areas. Understanding the city as the best of all possible stages, they transform the everyday perception people have of it and go out to meet the audience in search of their engagement and to make them think about themselves and about others, propo-sing parallel universes and flashbacks to our past and to our historical context.

Bug n’Buzz convierte la terraza de un café en un espacio escénico. Bug se mueve entre el público con una danza inusual, con movimien-tos orgánicos, robóticos. Buzz, por su parte, convierte todo lo que toca en un instrumento musical, un tenedor-violín, un cuchillo-bajo, un vaso-flauta… construyendo una arquitectura sonora efímera. Una experiencia sensorial co-lectiva a través de la música y la danza.

Cie. Concordance se cuestiona sobre los lí-mites entre el espacio público y el privado, desdibujados con la irrupción de internet. La terraza del café, utilizada como un espacio de experimentación, simboliza las redes sociales de épocas pasadas.

Bug n’Buzz turn a café terrace into a perfor-mance area. Bug moves among the audience with an unusual dance, with organic, robotic movements. Buzz, in turn, converts everything he touches into a musical instrument, a fork-violin, a knife-bass, a glass-flute…building an ephemeral architecture of sound. A collective sensory experience through music and dance.

Cie. Concordance probes the boundaries bet-ween public and private space that have beco-me blurred by the appearance of the internet. The café terrace, used as a setting for experi-mentation, symbolises the social networks of past times.

Bandart Productions son la bailarina y co-reógrafa Katalin Lengyel y el artista en new media Szabolcs Tóth-Zs. Su primer trabajo, “Dancing Graffiti”, fue creado en Glasgow en 2013 y desde entonces ha recorrido numero-sos festivales internacionales, de música al aire libre, de danza, eventos y galas de tele-vision. Su segunda pieza, “You-Topia” fue re-presentada en 2014 en el Consejo de Europa en Estrasburgo con motivo del Forum Mundial de la Democracia. En 2015 estrenaron “Ha-ckocracy”.

¿Es possible el romance y también la pelea entre una mano gigante y una mujer? En este mundo mágico y de color todo es posible. Proyecciones en vivo y en 3D de una mano que juega con una bailarina como si fuese una marioneta. Un dúo muy singular.

Bandart Productions comprises the dancer and choreographer Katalin Lengyel and the new media artist Szabolcs Tóth-Zs. Un toque de locura a la vuelta de la esquina. Un círculo de hierba artificial con la que un acróbata y una bailarina ocupan el espacio invitando al paseante a pararse y respirar aire fresco.

Un rincón acogedor que evoca la serenidad de la naturaleza y en la que podemos perdernos.

Pero de repente este espacio se convierte en terreno de juego y campo de batalla entre un perro y un lobo, entre la infancia y la edad adulta, entre los impulsos de construir y des-truir, entre la danza y el circo.

A touch of madness just around the corner. A circle of artificial grass that an acrobat and a dancer use to occupy the space, inviting pas-sers-by to stop and breathe fresh air.

A cosy corner that evokes the serenity of nature and a place in which to lose ourselves.

Yet suddenly that space becomes a playing field or a battleground between a dog and a wolf, between childhood and adulthood, bet-ween the impulses to build and destroy, bet-ween dance and circus.

The Kultur Leioa exhibition hall is to be transformed into a professional meeting room that will hold both presentations and formal and informal trade encounters. A multipurpose venue in which to relax, have a coffee, chat with friends and colleagues, prepare meetings, take part in talks, find out about the current state of the Street Arts...

If you happen to be overwhelmed by the breakneck pace, if you cannot stand scrums... the space Piknik Kalian within the park Pinosolo parkea is your place to be.

The Kalian HKG arts and culture association from Leioa, with a great deal of energy, work and eagerness, will transform this park located at the heart of Leioa. In addition to the shows indicated in the programme and explicitly desig-ned for this place, there will also be exhibitions, decorations, wall pain-tings, poetry, nature trails, activities for children, workshops and open classes, as well as music.Furthermore, you will find food trucks providing delicious food and drinks. On Sunday there will be a full-day programme; however, apart from that, there will be a popular paella and the festival’s closing ceremony will be held. Surrounded by nature and in a relaxed atmosphere. And everything within short distance from the city centre.

In partnership with the ARTEKALE Basque Association of Street Arts, UMO-RE AZOKA LEIOA – the Leioa Festival of Comedy Street Theatre – is once again holding its Umore Meetings, which were so successful last year.

The 18th Comedy Street Theatre Festival is to be held from 18 to 21 May in Leioa (Basque Country). The purpose of these business meetings is to bring together professional performing arts companies from Spain and local, national and international programmers.

UMORE AZOKA AWARDSRulesUMORE AZOKA LEIOA, Festival & Fair of Street Arts, announces the “Umore Azoka Awards 2017”, which will be held between the May 18 and 21 with the aim of promoting the companies participating in the program-ming and will be settled in accordance with the following

RULES

1. All companies programmed to take part in the festival and who have expressly stated so, whatever format and presentation space they use, may participate.

2. Every company will participate with the work or works they present at the festival.

3. The jury, appointed by Umore Azoka and made up of professionals and experts in the performing arts, will see the programmed perfor-mances and choose the winners between them.

4. The following awards will be presented:

Award for the best street performanceTrophy and certificate

Award for the best street performance from the Basque CountryTrophy and certificate

Special Award for the Best Performance/Emerging ArtistCreation residency at Hameka1 Creative residency at Hame-ka for their next show.

5. The Jury will take the following evaluation criteria into accou-nt: artistic quality (direction, interpretation, music, choreography, rhythm…), technical quality (costumes, scenery, lighting, props, characterisation, sound, production…), originality, creativity, novel-ty and appeal of the performance.

6. In addition, the jury reserves the right not to award prizes and prizes cannot be shared. In accordance with its criteria, the Jury may make as many special mentions as it wants, which will not receive a mone-tary award.

7. The jury’s decision will be made public on May 21, during the closing ceremony of the festival.

8. The awards ceremony will take place at the official Umore Azoka 2018 reception ceremony.

9. The organisation and jury shall be empowered to resolve any contin-gency not provided for in the rules.

10. Participation in these awards implies acceptance of these rules.

1 Hameka is the focal point for a local cultural project managed by the Communauté de Communes Errobi, a “factory” of street arts and theatre in euskera, the Basque language, with residency stays for artists so that they can work in proper conditions. Located in the heart of the Basque Country, it acts as a liaison for organising nume-rous events, especially with schools, as well as performances designed for all kinds of audiences.
