• Teaching approach: I’ll use the Communicative Approach
• Materials and resources: • Farm animals flashcards, cd player, audio
material (songs and chants), paper bag puppets (students´production), mp3
audio and mp4 from “Old Macdonald Had a Farm” video taken from
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbToB-yjAm8
• Seating arrangement: Children will be standing to sing the song and sitting
on their chairs at their tables for the oral activities. We will sit on the floor and
make a circle to pre-teach song vocabulary.
• Possible problems / difficulties and their possible solutions during the
class: Children may have forgotten the vocabulary and get bored easily,
leading to disruptive behaviour. Using chants, I ll re-focus students ´attention by
singing “head and shoulders” song
• Potential problems students may have with the language: Children may
lose interest on the lesson. I will help them re-focus by making them participate
or by asking them to help me explain/ model as my secretary.
• Assessment: I ll check students’ comprehension through their participation. If
I notice they do not understand, I ll mime, model the language or ask a partner
to model the activity.
• Use of ICT: I will project a video from my laptop to help learners visualize
content.
• Integrating skills: Students will integrate skills through the different tasks,
such as listening to the song and then working the content orally. Speaking will
be foster in the presentation skills leading to listening and doing.
Routine: 5’
I’ll get into the classroom and greet students:
“Hello!, how are you today?” “Let´s sing the Hello song”. As the students know
the song, they will listen, sing, mime and dance. I will play the cd:

Transition: Well done! Sit down, please!
Warm-up 5’:
I will ask students “Do you remember the animals?”
I will show each farm animal flashcard and I will ask:
T: “What animal is this?”
Students : “It´s a cow”
T: “Excellent, What sound does it make?”
Sts: “Mouuu”
T:”Great! And what animal is this?”
Sts: “ A pig”
T: “What animal is this?”
Students : “It´s a duck”
T: “Excellent, What sound does it make?”
Sts: “Quack”
T:”Great! And what animal is this?”
Sts: “ A horse”
T: “Excellent, What sound does it make?”
Sts: “Neigh”
Presentation 10’:
I ll say to students “Look! Do you remember my friends?”
I will show them the paper bag puppets.
I will show the pig and ask “What animal is this?”, then I will do the same with
the cow, the horse and the duck.
I will say “Good! Well, they live here...” and I will show them the following poster
I will ask them “What´s this?”. Then, I will explain to them “Yes, A FARM!”
“Look here, this is Old Macdonald!, say hello to Old Macdonald!” Students will
greet the puppet and wave to him.
I will explain to them that he owns the farm and we will sing a song about his
farm.
Transition: “Ok, let´s sit on the floor! Come on, let´s make a circle!”
“Development 15’:
I will give each student the paper bag puppet they have created the previous
lesson. I will ask them to sit all the ducks together, all the horses together, all
the pigs together and all the cows together.
Transtition: “Ok, let´s do it”
Activity 1-10’: Singing
I will pre-teach the song´s lyrics with the aid of the paper bag puppets and the
poster. Once we have rehearsed it, I will play the audio version of the song.
Students will sing and act out the story.
As the song finishes, the tiger appears to scare the farm animals. I will put on a
tiger mask to surprise students while they are singing and introduce the new
element in the song.
Transition: Well done! Now, let´s watch the video and dance!
Activity 2-10’: Role-play
Students will watch the video to practice. As a final outcome, they will perform
the song to the teachers and school staff (if they are free to watch).
Round up - 5’:
When we finish, I will ask them “Isabella, What animal is yours?” “What sound
does it make?” I will ask all the students about their animals
Transition: “Ok, now, let’s say goodbye to the animals and let´s put them away”
Closure - 10’:
“Ok, now, let’s sing the good bye song:” I will play the cd:
“Ok, now, let’s sing the good bye song:” I will play the cd and we will sing,
dance and mime the song
