DiwaliDiwali is a Hindu holiday which celebrates an Indian new year. Diwali is mostly celebrated in India, but people in other parts of the world also celebrate it. Did you know that the word Diwali comes from a language called Sanskrit? It means “Row Of Lights”.

How is Diwali celebrated?During Diwali people fill oil, and light up small lamps called “diyas”. Indian people decorate with diyas in front of their house.

RangoliPeople also draw beautiful and colorful designs called Rangoli .They draw it inside or outside the house during Diwali. To make the design they use either colorful stone dust or colorful flowers. In this picture these people are drawing a rangoli with colorful stone dust
