I think that French is a very difficult language.  Marg. - Poor darling. I think that French isn’t difficult at all. I have an idea! You can read a little French now - and I can correct your pronunciation mistakes. T o m - No, dear. It’s useless. It’s too late. Marg. - No, it isn’t. Remember! The proverb says: “It’s never too late.” T o m - But it’s foolish to work too much on a holiday. Marg. - Oh, that is ridiculous, dear! You do nothing from morning to night. The only things that interest you are: eating, drinking, listening to the jukebox, smoking and sleeping. And as you know, that is very bad for your health, dear. Well , I l ike “ junk food”! I l ike pizza, hamburgers, and hot

(continuation) Abel

“Dreams cost nothing.”

I a lso l ike fr ied potatoes very much. In Great Bri ta in they

cal l them potato chips, but in the U.S.A. they cal l them

French fr ies. I don’ t know why. When I eat potato chips,

hamburgers and hot dogs, I l ike to put a lot of tomato

ketchup and mustard on them. Some people l ike to have

hamburgers wi th onions. I never eat onions. I can’ t stand

their nasty smel l.

Well , we were talking about travel l ing. - When I grow

My f i rst tr ip must be to South America. I want to visi t

Brazi l is the country of my dreams. When I go there, I

want to spend most of my t ime visi t ing the Amazon, the

largest tropical forest in the world. In the Amazon there are

over 40,000 variet ies of plants.

In Brazi l they speak Portuguese, because i t was a

For my second tr ip I would l ike to visi t China and Japan.

The language is no problem, because my father says that

in Chinese and Japanese schools they study Engl ish. My

father also says that Engl ish is  spoken  al l over the world.

So i f you learn Engl ish wel l , you can see the world and you

wi l l be able to speak to everybody. - But we mustn’ t

forget a very important th ing: travel l ing costs a lot of

money. So, as my mother often says to me: we must f i rst

earn the money, and then make plans how to spend i t . My

mother also says that I am always dreaming about

travel l ing and that I must be more real ist ic. When she says

that, I answer, “Mama, dreams cost nothing, so why can’ t I

dream?” - I f you like, you can dream too. I t costs nothing!
