“The magician and the country of

silence” 1º Primaria Cuento Bilingüe

Había una vez un mago que habitaba el País del Silencio. El pobre mago se encontraba solo en aquel país que, a pesar de sus bonitos paisajes, era triste y aburrido.

Una noche, durante una tormenta, los rayos iluminaban árboles y montañas. Y uno de esos rayos cayó sobre la varita de este mago. Nuestro amigo, asustado, escuchó de repente que por ser el único habitante del País del Silencio, se le concedían cuatro deseos. ¡Qué suerte! Pensó y pensó, y finalmente concluyó:

Once upon a time, there was a wizard that lived at Silence Land. The poor wizard felt so lonely at that country which, in spite of its beautiful landscapes, was so sad and boring. One night, during a storm, lightnings illuminated trees and mountains. And one of those lightnings fell over the wizard's magic wand. Our friend, frightened, suddenly heard that as he was the only inhabitant of the country, he was awarded with four wishes.

– Desearía que este solitario país se llenara de niños y niñas.

Y, por arte de magia, comenzó a divisar a lo lejos muchos niños y niñas que acudían felices. – En segundo lugar, desearía que este

aburrido país se llenara de melodías.

Así fue que comenzó a llenarse el aire de sonidos remotos. – Ahora desearía que todas estas

melodías sonaran a través de instrumentos de diferentes colores y tamaños.

– Lucky me! - the wizard said. He thought and thought and he finally concluded: – I wish this lonely country were

full of girls and boys. And as if by magic, he started to

see from a distance many happy kids coming. – Secondly, I wish this boring

country were full of melodies. This way the air started to be full

of remote sounds. – Now I wish all those melodies

sounded through different coloured and sized instruments.

Y, los niños y niñas, comenzaron a portar instrumentos en sus manos, de muchos colores, grandes y pequeños. – Y, por último, desearía que los

instrumentos formasen cuatro familias diferentes, para poderlos agrupar y distinguir sus sonidos.

Y, de esta forma, se fueron agrupando los niños y las niñas con instrumentos musicales de percusión, de cuerda, de viento-metal y de viento-madera. El propio mago descubrió que su varita mágica se transformaba en una bonita batuta, con la que dirigir a las niñas y niños músicos.

And girls and boys started to carry on their hands musical instruments of many different colours and sizes. – And finally, I wish those

instruments formed out four different families, for grouping them and in order to differenciate their sounds.

And, this way, boys and girls started to form groups with their percussion, strings, wind-brass and wind-wood musical instruments. Even the wizard realized his magic wand turned into a beautiful baton, with which he could conduct the little musicians.

Desde ese mismo instante, en el que todos los niños y niñas comenzaron a tocar sus instrumentos al unísono, decidieron entre todos cambiar el nombre de ese país, ahora alegre y melodioso, por el País Musical. Por eso, ahora os mostramos a sus felices habitantes:

From that moment onwards, when all the girls and boys started to play their instruments in unison, they decided to change the name of that country, which was now happy and melodious, for the Musical Land. That is why we now present you all their happy inhabitants:
