T h i r t y - f i v e p a t i e n t s w i t h c o n g e n i t a l h e a r t b l o c k are p r e s e n t e d . There wasnoo b v i o u s sex d i f f e r e n c e a n d t h e i r ages r a n g e d f r o m 1 2 d a y s to 8 5 years, t h o u g h most were under t h eage o f 2 0 years w h e n f i r s t seen. A c c o m p a n y i n g h e a r t d i s e a s e was n o t e d i n s i x , b u t p r e s e n t a t i o n withsymptoms i n e a r l y i n f a n c y was a more s e r i o u s r i s k f a c t o r i n our e x p e r i e n c e . Permanent p a c i n g wasr e q u i r e d i n 2 1 , t h r e e o f whom were neonates. One o f t h e 1 4 unpaced p a t i e n t s d i e d unexpectedly a tt h e age o f 5 y e a r s . L o n g term s u p e r v i s i o n i s n e c e s s a r y , a s most w i l l r e q u i r e permanent p a c i n g b e f o r et h e i r 5 0 t h b i r t h d a y .
