Faced with the need to create a strategic vision that delivered agile acquisition and closed the increasing gap between Urgent Operational Requirements and the long term Equipment Plan, MoD HoC ISTAR sought support from Industry.

Leading a response on behalf of Intellect and drawing on the experiences gained in Intelligent Client programme leadership for the Heathrow Terminal 5 Project, Lanthorn provided a mechanism , illustrated, to achieve coherence across the UoR programme (whilst not impeding delivery to operations) that created convergence between UoR and EP needs .

This established a long term road map or “Capability Pathway” that incorporated deployed baseline capability and converged and aligned individual UOR and EP programmes to ensure the attainment of the long term vision. Milestones along the pathway enabled incremental capability requirements to be set and quantified.

Improving Governance in Emergency PlanningLanthorn has been engaged by Serco, the prime

contractor for the SecuRe programme, to support the creation and evaluation of a single, coherent and common approach across boundaries and organisations.The project forms part of the Government’s programme to improve its capability to handle risk and uncertainty in relation to the UK’s Critical National Infrastructure.Lanthorn was selected for its sector knowledge, subject matter expertise and ability to work within an integrated project team , initially to focus on Governance and international implications and to contribute to the development of an overarching Enterprise-wide architectural based solution.

A Call to Economic ArmsCommercial and legal considerations

Establishing a presence in a new market can be a daunting challenge. Pitmans, a leading regional law practice, sought assistance to establish the viability and subsequently launch its services to the Defence & Security sector.Lanthorn undertook a market appraisal, provided a business plan and created a robust Market Campaign identifying key potential clients, assisting Pitmans in preparing for sales meetings and building confidence in their own capability. To support market entry Lanthorn developed a Thought Leadership Campaign for Pitmans to demonstrate knowledge of the sector agenda, raise profile and facilitate potential customer contact. Within three months of launching the campaign Pitmans has secured new clients and commissions and are confident of their ability to continue to win more business.
