The Awesome Assistant Principal, Mrs. Alarcon from Emily and Quetzal

Mrs. Alarcon plans for the next semester to implement more things about the 7 Habits. Mrs. Alarcon started the 7 Habits because she wants to give the message to all students that they can be leaders. She said there's no sports teams but they want to put more after school activities. Mrs. Alarcon said the school started getting delivered food but this year they are giving more hand made food than delivered. She

also said we need to wear pro-active Halloween costumes be-cause our society is already full of bad things and she doesn’t want the students wearing bloody stuff. We can-not take our phones out be-cause it is a district policy and Mrs. Alarcon doesn’t want stu-dents to bully each other in social media. We need to wear uniforms in our community because it is difficult for par-ents to buy clothes for their

kids and she doesn’t want stu-dents to bully other students. Mrs. Alarcon said she wants to change students’ attitude, from mean to nice. We are a 4 Stars School because the teachers taught us students well. Mrs. Alarcon said she like that each student is special and she likes meeting them.

Homecoming Week

Native Americans introduced the fruit to the Pilgrims.

Parents, Ms. Burney and Ms. Fuentes come to Thanksgiving lunch with

their kid because the food was good and to spend time with their child.

Mrs. Melendez celebrates Thanks-giving at her sister's house and she is thankful for food, family, and friends.

Kindergartener Kaleb Romero said that he likes the Thanksgiving food because of the pumpkin pie. Kin-dergartener Ada Beltran – Silvas said that she likes the Thanksgiv-ing food because of the turkey.

Lunch lady Eva Acosta said that they made the food the day before the Thanksgiving lunch to prepare and get the ingredients.

SPLENDID THANKSGIVING BY Kaitlyn and Armida

The meaning of Thanksgiving is a holiday commemorating the first harvest festival cele-brated by the Pilgrims in 1621. We celebrate Thanksgiving be-cause the pilgrims were taught by the Native Americans how to hunt and that’s when they had Thanksgiving for 3 days. The turkey is to remind us of the history of Thanksgiv-ing. We have the pumpkin pie because the Pilgrims and members of the Wampanoag tribe ate pumpkins and other squashes that are native to New England. We have the cranberry sauce because Cran-berries are native to North America and it’s thought the

king about what they have co-rrect and incorrect. Not only does it prepare them for a com-

petition but it also gets them to experience engineering and science. Robotics helps stu-dents develop knowled-ge,skill,and attitude.

Jesus, a 3rd grade student thinks that Robotics is a little bit complicated and the calcu-lations a little hard. Valentina, a 4th grade student likes Science and Math and she wants to be a Robotic engineer.

Robotics is important to schools because it teaches stu-dents what a robot can and

cannot do. The robot and the calculations get the student to think. The student might get frustrated but they are thin-

Jordan, a 5th grade student thinks Robotics improve my skills in Math and Science. Ms Valle, a GT teacher, thinks it is important to teach STEM( Mathematics, Science, Engi-neering, and Technology) pro-grams like Robotics in schools. It is a must for students for the 21st century jobs. Ms. Rodri-guez, our librarian says it helps see what other kids are doing and learning and gives you an opportunity to share your knowledge with other people.

On November our elementary school teachers adopted a word and decorates their door with that college word. On No-vember the 9th our 5th graders receive a pennant and instructions. They did it as a family project to see what colleges they wanted to attend. On November 27th through December 1st there were some activities like wearing orange to let everyone know about your college bound. Another day was twin day where you

dressed up the same as your friend, this means encourage-

ment between each other. On December 1st we had a Pep Rally with teachers bringing their graduation regalia. They wanted to show the students how the teachers look as a col-lege graduate.

When students picked their word, the counselor mix their cards and that’s how they won. The winner was Serenity del Bosque, 5th grader who won the prize from the pep ral-ly of Generation Texas. It was a nice bag and a UTEP folder. She said that when the princi-

pal called her name in front of the entire school she felt too nervous. Mrs. Moreno, fifth grade teacher, said that Generation Texas was a great idea because Canutillo Ele-mentary students get an idea of college experience and a closer look of what college ex-pects when students attend college or a university.

Why Is School Attendance Important by Sheila and Jocelyn

School attendance is im-portant because our goal for the school is that eve-ry student gets a career or a job. Attendance is important to the children to have a good education. They could succeed in their academics and their daily life when they go to school. Attendance is im-portant because it helps you to be a great person

in your life. It is im-portant because if the students don’t come to school they will not have enough money to pay for school needs.
