Mexico against Dominican Republic in NORCECA U-20 Gold Match MANAGUA, Nicaragua, August 25, 2012. - Mexico defeated Costa Rica in straight sets 25-16, 25-19 and 25-19 making it into the final match of the NORCECA Women´s U-20 Continental Championship. All the players for the wining team had the opportunity to see action. Mexico had advantage 5-1 in the blocking category and Costa Rica 6-2 in serves. Mexicans will meet Dominican Republic in the Gold match and booked one of the three spots available for the 2013 FIVB World Championship in Czech Republic.

GUA v TRI Guatemala ends in seventh place

MANAGUA, Nicaragua, August 25, 2012. - Guatemala ends in seventh place of the NORCECA Women’s U-20 Continental Championship after their victory over Trinidad & Tobago by 3-0 (25-7, 25-16, 25-7). Guatemala held a 16-4 advantage in aces, 11 of them by Maria Alvarez who was the best scorer. The winners finalize with a 2-2 win-loss record and Trinidad & Tobago with 0-3. “This was a valuable experience for my team, we learned from the

other teams and to value ourselves and we identified our mistakes” indicated Ada Villalobos Guatemala’s captain. Makila York for Trinidad & Tobago said “unfortunately I got the flu and I wasn’t able to concentrate which caused an additional burden on my teammates.” Julio Dominguez coach for the winning team said “we grow competing in NORCECA tournaments because we face our real needs, so we’re able to practice on them; we have had the chance to be in this circle with our youth team and now with the juniors which is the only way we’ll improve.” He ended congratulating his team. “I think that Guatemala played with more intensity than we did, while my team should have done much better as they showed against USA and Cuba in the preliminary round” expressed Ali Macsood Trinidad & Tobago’s Coach.

Guatemala finaliza en séptimo lugar

MANAGUA, Nicaragua, 25 de Agosto, 2012.-Guatemala finalizó en séptimo lugar del Campeonato Continental NORCECA Femenil Sub-20 luego de la victoria sobre Trinidad & Tobago por 3-0 (25-7, 25-16, 25-7). Guatemala tuvo ventaja de 16-4 en puntos de servicio, María Álvarez anotó 11 de ellos y fue la mejor anotadora del juego. Las ganadoras finalizan con 2-2 en juegos ganados y Trinidad & Tobago con 0-3.

“Esta fue una experiencia valiosa para el equipo, aprendimos de los otros equipos y a valorarnos, a detectar nuestros errores para corregirlos” indicó Ada Villalobos capitana de Guatemala. Makila York por Trinidad & Tobago dijo “desafortunadamente tengo gripe y no pude concentrarme lo cual ocasionó una carga más sobre mis compañeras.” Julio Domínguez el entrenador del equipo ganador dijo “nos enriquece participar en un torneo de NORCECA porque nos enfrentamos a la realidad de nuestras necesidades para poder entrenarlo; hemos tenido la oportunidad de estar en este círculo con el equipo infantil y ahora con el juvenil siendo la única forma para mejorar”; finalizó felicitando a su equipo. “Pienso que Guatemala jugó con más intensidad que nosotros, mi equipo debió haberlo hecho mejor así como lo mostró ante Estados Unidos y Cuba en la ronda preliminar” expresó Ali Macsood entrenador de Trinidad & Tobago.

DOM v USA Dominican Republic in great come back books ticket to final match and to FIVB WCH

MANAGUA, Nicaragua, August 25, 2012. – Dominican Republic had a dramatic come back advancing to the gold match of the NORCECA Women’s Junior Continental Championship and qualifying to the 2013 FIVB World Championship in Czech Republic, after dominating USA by 3-2 (22-25, 13-25, 25-21, 25-22, 15-10). Brayelin Martinez once again, with double digits, 29 in total, took Dominicans to the victory; Pamela

Soriano contributed with 15. The winners were superior in blocks 17-13 and in aces by 6-4. During the third set, Morete Lutz was a loss for the American team as she suffered a minor injury. USA’s captain Kelsey Humphreys said “we stopped believing in ourselves and to fight as hard as we were in the first two sets and Dominican Republic is a great team, the last time we played we had the opposite outcome.” “We wanted to do things well so badly that in the beginning we pressured ourselves too much, we knew it was a difficult match and we never stopped fighting following al the instructions of our coach” indicated Dominican captain Pamela Soriano. Brayelin Martinez was invited to the press conference by Nicaragua’s press, “in the beginning things weren’t going right for me but with the support of my team I took back control of my game.” “Happy for the victory” began Brazilian Coach for Dominican Republic, “defeating USA is not easy, they knew how to neutralize my players but with some adjustments things improved and the Americans began with mistakes; I’m happy for the qualification to the world championship, our first goal in the tournament.” Rodney Wilde, American coach expressed “these are very good teams that fight hard against each other and I want to congratulate Dominican Republic for a great come back, our team started getting tired without keeping up the same level of fight that we had in the first two sets.”

MANAGUA, Nicaragua, 25 de agosto, 2012.- República Dominicana tuvo un dramático triunfo viniendo de atrás y avanza al juego por el Oro del Campeonato Continental NORCECA Femenil Sub-20 y clasificó al Campeonato Mundial 2013 de la FIVB en República Checa luego de dominar a Estados Unidos por 3-2 (22-25, 13-25, 25-21, 25-22, 15-10). Brayelin Martínez, una vez más con doble dígitos, 29 en total, llevó a

MANAGUA, Nicaragua, August 25, 2012. - Mexico defeated Costa Rica in straight sets 25-16, 25-19 and 25-19 making it into the final match of the NORCECA Women´s U-20

Continental Championship. All the players for the wining team had the opportunity to see action. Mexico had advantage 5-

1 in the blocking category and Costa Rica 6-2 in serves. Mexicans will meet Dominican Republic in the Gold match and booked one of the three spots available for the 2013 FIVB World Championship in Czech Republic. “Costa Rica seemed united and willing to do things right; we are happy for the qualification and just as we did yesterday against Cuba, we’ll try giving our maximum tomorrow” said Alejandra Isiordia Mexican captain. Angie Montero Costa Rica’s captain gladly said “our goal was to play a good match and I feel we didn’t come short, Mexico’s attitude is a very good one and I congratulate them for being in the final match.” Estanislao Vacino Argentinean coach for Mexico congratulated Costa Rica for being in the final four of NORCECA showing an important advance for the region “we were able to give rest a set and a half to important players because they were worn out from yesterday’s match, even though Costa Rica was with good rhythm”. He ended by saying he is thrilled that they’ll play Dominican Republic because their job is a serious one just as they try to do in Mexico for the volleyball’s well being, “in my opinion I believe that the American coach anticipated himself in the results and gave his team rest during the day without taking this seriously.” Andres Carvajal said “it’s not a coincidence that Mexico is in the final match, it’s the reflection of the job they’ve been developing and it’s a model to follow and try to reach their high level which. México ante República Dominicana por el Oro del NORCECA Sub-20

MANAGUA, Nicaragua, 25 de agosto, 2012. – México derrotó a Costa Rica en sets seguidos 25-16, 25-19 y25-19 alcanzando la final del Campeonato Continental NORCECA Femenil Sub-20. Todas las jugadoras del lado ganador tuvieron la oportunidad de ver acción. México obtuvo 5-1 de ventaja en el bloqueo y Costa Rica 6-2 en puntos

de servicio. Las mexicanas enfrentarán a República Dominicana por el oro y se llevan uno de los puestos disponibles para el Campeonato Mundial 2013 de la FIVB en República Checa. “Costa Rica lució muy unido y con ganas de hacer las cosas bien; estamos contentas por la clasificación y al igual que como lo hicimos ante Cuba, buscaremos dar nuestro máximo el día de mañana” dijo Alejandra Isiordia la capitana de México. Angie Montero la capitana de Costa Rica muy contenta expresó “nuestra meta era hacer un buen partido y pienso que no nos quedamos cortas, la actitud de México es siempre muy buena y las felicito por estar en la final.” Estanislao Vacino entrenador argentino para México felicitó a Costa Rica por estar entre los cuatro finalistas de NORCECA siendo este un avance muy importante para la región “pudimos darle descanso set y medio a nuestras mejores jugadoras por el desgaste del juego de ayer, a pesar de que Costa Rica llevaba un buen ritmo de juego”.
