Global Feature Recognition: Basic Options (2/8)

The blue hole will generate a single holeif the option is activated or 4 separateholes if the option is not activated.

Tab HolesThe purpose of this option is to recognize complexholes (multi-diameter holes) that are not Standard PartDesign Features (Counterbored Holes, Countersunk

    Holes).

If the option is activated, several simple holes will becreated to fit with the tab holesIf the option is not activated, the holes belonging to thetab holes are not created (default behavior)

Merge of Co-Axial HolesThis option is used to automatically mergeco-axial holes that share the sameparameters (Diameter, Tolerance). In Global Feature Recognition, the holeextremity has to be blind to be recognized. In Local Feature Recognition, full throughholes can be recognized.

Global Feature Recognition: Basic Options (7/8)

The machining features can be recognized, in which:

Top face is not parallel to bottom face (inclined)

    Top face is non-planar

    Improved Milling Feature Recognition

The milling areas (with non-planar or inclined top

element) are now taken into account for featurecreation (Prismatic Machining Area). The feature

recognition is done with respect to the bottomface only.

The machining pocket feature can be recognized inwhich hole is intersecting with the pocket.

Feature recognition provides a Prismatic MachiningArea corresponding to a Complex Pocket. The

boundary can be defined by a hard boundary only. Animaginary contour at the intersection of Hole and Slot,is automatically defined to close the hard contour.

    Global Feature Recognition: Advanced Options

    Machining Direction

If needed, specify a preferred machining direction forthrough features by selecting a face, line or an edge.

The through features (Holes & Cutout) are created

according the selected direction (Top plane)

If the option Create Features only in this direction is

activated, all the created features will have the samemachining direction

    Hole / Pocket or Cutout

If needed, specify a Hole limit diameter. If a diameterhas a greater value than this limit, a circular pocketor cutout is created rather a hole.

    Tapered Holes

You can choose to ignore the fact that the hole typeis tapered during feature recognition.

In this way, you can force chamfered holes to berecognized as simple holes.

Global Feature Recognition: Automatic Pattern Creation

Allows creating machinable axial features and machining patterns in a single step

During the creation of the machinable axial features,

machining patterns are automatically created to

group them according some parameters:DiameterDepthHole TypeHole Extension

    Tolerance Value (H7, Min/max)Color

    Thread parameters

The parameters have to be identical or in the samerange (between minimum & maximum values) to be

grouped automatically in the same machining pattern

Automatic Pattern Creation for Machinable Axial Features

This lesson shows you how to create automatically a machining pattern ofAxial Features

After the creation of the machinable axial features, machining patterns can be created to group themaccording some parameters:

    Diameter

    DepthHole TypeHole Extension

Tolerance Value (H7, Min/max, )ColorThread parameters

The parameters have to be identical or in the samerange (between minimum & maximum values) to begrouped them in the same machining pattern.
