TOUGH LOVEDirected by Jean Charruyer, Richard Bois. 102’ France 2 - 2005 “La Salamandre” offers a home to 25 children taken into care

by the social services. After filming them for a year, we tried to understand what led the families into such dire straits. Some questions remain: How important is it to maintain the bond with the parents? What is the best way of rebuilding these shattered children? Does it have to come from within, through self-expression? Is it the children or the parents who need treatment?

This film is intended to go beyond, or rather to go into, the public figure in order to grasp the truth of the man, seek out the force lines, focus on the personality rather than the obstacles placed in his path in over 50 years of history.
