Prusia, 1898-1995Nació en 1898 en Dierschau, Prusia Occidental. Tomó sus primeras fotografías a los 13 años con una cámara Kodak que le habían regalado y su primer encargo fué un reportaje sobre la entrega de los premios Nobel a Thomas Mann en 1929.En 1935 emigró a Estados Unidos donde trabajó, en un principio para Harper`s Bazaar, Vogue y Town and Country. Eisenstaedt llego a NY en el momento en que acababa de ser creada la revista LIFE e ingresó a la plana mayor de sus colaboradores permanentes, a principios de 1936.Eisenstaedt renunció muy pronto al flash para hacer más luminosa la atmósfera de sus motivos y es uno de los pioneros de la fotografía con luz natural.Peter Pollack escribió sobre el fotógrafo: "La fuerza de sus fotografías reside en la sencillez de la composición. Los retratos de Eisenstaedt reflejan la manera de pensar y el carácter de sus modelos, ya sean célebres o no. El carácter íntimo de sus fotografías envuelve al espectador y le da la impresión de encontrarse junto al fotógrafo".Einsenstaedt recibió numeroso premios internacionales y se cuenta entre los periodistas fotográficos más publicados del mundo.
