From the January 2004 till December 2004 the work wascompleted on the subject of preparation of the tender documentation, announcement of tender and evaluation of proposals.

Contract between the winner, Transas Scandinavia AB and the Ministry of Transport of Latvia about implementation of national shore-based AIS system was signed on 17th of December 2004 .

The implementation of Latvian AIS Network was carried out from the January 2005 till July 2005 .

At the beginning of July 2005 the Latvian AIS Network has been successfully commissioned.

Provisional Acceptance Certificate was signed on 14th of July 2005 and started 2 years warranty period.

The Latvian AIS Network is based on existing GMDSS structure and includes 8 remote AIS sites with

Transas Base Stations T211.

Remote control of all AIS Base Stations is provided from the Maritime Rescue control

Centre (MRCC) located in Riga.

Microsoft licenses’ policy.

Web server shall allow 50 client connections.Used Windows XP Professional OS has restrictions in the number of connections (up to 10).OS shall be changed to Window Server 2003 including allnecessary licences.

FATDMAFATDMA configuration proposed by Supplier, Transas Scandinavia, does’nt fully correspond to HELCOM FATDMA plan concerning the msg. 4 “Base Station Report” on channel B.

At present the HELCOM proxy software (Gatehouse) ismade as application and human’s assistance isnecessary.

It would be better to create HELCOM proxy software asWindows service, with auto start and auto logonpossibility

Actually we are using IP 195.114.45.143

MRCC is going on to change INTERNET provider forAIS system.

In the immidiate future, there will be new connection

to HELCOM server for Latvia.
