Baptisms:

Arrangements must be made by parents through the Rectory Office to schedule baptisms and arrange for Pre-Baptism classes. All parents expecting to baptize their first child are to attend Pre-Baptism classes.

1-го вересня - Початок церковного року-індикт.

Вересень є не лише звичайним, календарним початком

нової пори року- осені, а й важливою подією у житті

Церкви. Саме 1-го вересня Церква святкує початок,

найменування, нового церковного року, який розпочинає

коло літургійних богослужінь.

У посланні наших Єпископів читаємо: "Літургійний круг

нашої Церкви є дуже багатий. Впродовж цілого року

устав постійно показує своїм вірним таїнства життя,

страстей, смерти і воскресення нашого Божественного

Спасителя, величі Божого Материнства й могутнього

заступництва Пречистої Діви Марії, подвиги святих

мужів і жінок, що своїм геройським наслідуванням

Христа прославили Бога й увесь людський рід. Часи

посту й утримання від гучних забав мають допомогти

вірним більше панувати над собою та краще готуватися

до таїнственної зустрічі з Христом у Пресвятій Євхаристії

за життя і в день другого приходу Христа при кінці

світу".

Літургійний рік — це наче велика духовна книга, яка

вчить нас, як Бога любити, Йому служити, Його славити

та як спасти свою душу. Cказано про велику Божу любов

і милосердя. Ця духовна книга кожного дня спонукає нас

до молитви, жертви й покути.

Рік має 365 днів і багато людей серед нас можуть відійти

до вічності ще цього року. Чи покличе Бог нас до

вічності? Не знаємо. Цей рік для нас може бути

останнім тут на Землі. Тому маємо бути готові до

зустрічі.

Христос каже: "Отже, стережіться, бо не знаєте ви

години, коли прийде Господь. Знайте ж це, що коли б

знав господар, о котрій сторожі прийде злодій, то він

пильнував би, і підкопати свого дому не дав би" (Матвій

24:42–43). Тому будьте готові ви,—бо прийде Син

Чоловічий тієї години, коли ви не думаєте!» (Maтвій

24:44).

Памятаймо, що наше життя- це величезний Дар, яким

Бог нас нагородив, тому маємо прожити з користю в

першу чергу для нашої душі і просити благословення на

кожен день та дякувати Богові за Його ласку.

Сьогодні, на початку нового церковного року, ми маємо

гарну нагоду над цим замислитись, наскільки ми є готові

до зустрічі з Христом, переглянути наше життя і внести

добрі зміни.

Beginning of the Indiction

In our Ecclesiastical year, September 1 is called the “beginning of

the indiction.” It marks the first day of the Ecclesiastical year in the

Church. The word “indiction” is a Latin word meaning “impose.”

We celebrate September 1st as the Frist day of our ecclesiastical

year because of the following reasons:

1. The month of September was, for the Hebrews, the beginning

of the civil year (Exodus 23:16). 2. In the first church communities, September was the month of

gathering the harvest of summer to prepare for the beginning

of the winter months ahead. Therefore, people offered their

harvest to God, in thanksgiving, to bless their winter ahead. 3. The tradition tells us that the Hebrews finally entered the

Promise land during the month of September. 4. In September, our Lord Jesus first entered the synagogue in

Nazareth (Luke 4:16-21) to preach his mission to save Man-

kind. 5. Emperor Constantine introduced the first official indiction in

the year 312, after he defeated the enemies of Christianity in

the month of September. Following this victory, Constantine

granted freedom of confession to the Christian Faith through-

out the Roman Empire. 6. The First Ecumenical Council [Nicaea, 325] decreed that the

Church year should begin on September 1.
