Elders and Hermanas, I am just completing the extraordinary experience of interviewingall 192 missionaries in El Faro. The Spirit has born witness to me that our missionaries are specialemissaries of the Savior, the vast majority of which are obedient, hard-working and desirous of beingconsecrated. I have been so touched by your devotion, your love of the Savior, your unselfishness, andyour love for your investigators. I have been moved to tears by your testimonies, your dedication andyour passion for this great latter day work. I pray that we, as a mission, will be fearless and bold, fearingno man, as we go forth to share that which is of greater value than anything on the face of the earth.May the Lord bless you in this indescribably wonderful and joyful endeavor.

Con deseos de invitar con poder y autoridad,

    Benevolence vs. Selfishness

    Message From Hermana Dayton

enevolence is giving to others' basic needs without having as my motive personal reward. It iseadily revealing others deeds of kindness but making sure that your own good to others is kept

oncealed. It is doing the right thing for the right reason. When we choose to care for others, helpmake others successful, freely give of our time and talents to bless others, and take personal interestothers we are benevolent.

Many prophets have exemplified the character trait of benevolence. Nephi did all he could toease the Lord, to help his family, never with the thought of personal gain--just to do whatever the

ord asked and for the right reason. King Benjamn says in Mosiah 2:14-15, I have labored with minewn hands that I might serve you... I do not desire to boast... Only to serve God." President Kimball isso a prophet who was known for his benevolence.

Mac Anderson, author of Simple Truths, tells this touching story. "Dad owned a furniture store, and I

sed to dust every Wednesday after school to earn my allowance. One afternoon I observed myad talking to all customers--the banker, a farmer, and a doctor. At the end of the day, just as Dadas closing, the garbage collector came in. I was ready to go home but Dad greeted him at theoor with a big hug and talked with him about his wife and son who had been in a recent carccident. He empathized, asked questions and listened. When the man finally left I asked, "Dad , whyd you spend so much time with him... he's just a garbage collector?" Dad looked at me, locked thont door and said, "I'm your father and I tell you lots of stuff, but if you remember nothing else I ever

ell you, remember this... treat every human being just the way you want to be treated. If you hadnderstood that you would have never said what you said. " We sat there for another hour andscussed the meaning and power of the Golden Rule. Dad said, if you live the Golden Rule--Do untothers as you would have them do unto you-- everything else in life will usually work out, but if youon't, your life will probably be very unhappy and without meaning."

    Message From Hermana Dayton

We can apply Benevolence in missionary work by:

Treating every missionary, ward member, and investigator with the same respect you would like toreceive.

Choosing to look upon mundane missionary duties such as contacting and knocking doors as alabor of love for the Lord and the people of Spain.

Caring more about your companions growth and character than his or her materialachievements baptisms.

Focusing on your investigators inner needs and desires rather than selfishly focusing on your ownsuccess by reaching numbers.

resident Dayton and I admire the many in our mission who are Benevolent. We see you going thextra mile to serve and love the people, you invest time and energy to bless those around youithout any thought of personal recognition. Thank you for the example of goodness you are... were inspired by your genuine love and concern for others. We love you dearly and pray for you dailys you valiantly serve others.

Hello President! This week wasso amazing! First off I'd like to

thank you for coming toSusannahs baptism. It meant alot to my companion, Susanaand I. I think we can bothagree that the spirit wasdefinitely present at herbaptism. In all honesty I wassuper nervous and superstressed but in the end it wasall worth it! When Susana boreher testimony and it literally

brought tears to my eyes. I feelso blessed to have been partof her change and althoughthere were bumps in the road,it just testified to me the grandimportance of the atonementand how meaningful therepentence process is! I lovethis gospel so much!

Dear President, Just last night,Elder ______and I entered abuilding where somebody toldus they lived. We went up thestairs, and started trying to hitbuttons on the wall to getsome light in on us, becausethe lights were out..butaccidently rang a doorbellwhile doing so. Oops-- oldwoman opens up. Lookinmighty cranky, but we go for itanyways. We soon find out her

name is Milagro, or "Miracle" inSpanish. Coincidence? I thinknot. Haha. No, but for reals, itwas very cool. We went onteaching the story of Josephsmith, bearing testimony, andyes, even showed he video"because of Him". Classichehe. She's super interested--told us she's been searching fortruth all her life without luck. I

cannot wait to see her again!!What amiracle, right?! What aMilagro!!!!!

went into Relief Societyyesterday. It was a beautifullesson with you and I can'tthank you enough!

President Dayton,BAPTISMMMMMM!!!!I hadthe privilege to baptize ourinvestigator Silvia! It hasbeen incredible to see howthe Holy Ghost changes

people's lives if they reallystrive to accept gods willand have an open heart. Ihaven't received this muchjoy in my life before.Baptizing is ultimately thebest thing I have ever done. But also confirming isincredible. Every time I standin the circle it amazes mehow much the spirit testifies

to me. The Windows ofheaven are literally openedup and the blesses and thegift of the Holy Ghost ispoured down. I would go asfar to say I feel as if it is notonly us in that circle butangels are also around us.The warmth and joy areeternal. I love this work. I lovemy mission. 2nd miracle Wemet with our otherinvestigator David. Heexplained to us that he hadthe desire to be baptized! We went through all thethings we needed to teachhim and he basically wasteaching us! He even askedus if he could come help uswork one day. So happy forhim! He will be baptized thisSaturday! The lord is truly

blessing us here in__________. David would beour fecha for this Saturday.

    Dear President Dayton,

This week we had thebaptism of Jesus! Theprogram was super good andwe even had severalinvestigators there to see it.He asked me to be the one tobaptize him and it was such asweet experience. He bestpart of the whole thing wasthe closing hymn, "Familiescan be together forever." Thespirit was incredibly strong, and I know that Jesus' familyis an eternal family inprogress! Besides that we'vehad a super busy week. Wehave another investigatornamed Alejandro who wantsto get baptized this Saturdayso we've been teaching himall the lessons. And we had tohelp Jesus prepare for hisinterview. It's really great

working with people whohave the goal to bebaptized. Something that Ilike about Elder _______is howfocused he is. Whenever wehave to travel he always hassomething to do to study thelanguage or prepare for ourlessons, and he is alwaysfocused on baptism as ourbiggest goal, and how we

can help our investigatorstake that important step.

    Dear President Dayton,

So, here is the informe aboutthe meeting in Teruel: In total,we had 8 people for Teruelthat came to the meetingand 17 people fromCastelln; for a total of 25people. We did it in the homeof a member-family that livesthere, the Lpez family. Outof the 8 people there, therewere 3 investigators, 2 werebrought by members and 1was a contact that we did.We were excited and happyto see the start of the group inTeruel, and glad that all thosepeople came to support us....We spent Friday andSaturday and we were ableto get into contact withabout 80% of our investigators(of both the Elders and theHermanas)......But the

meeting went very well andthe investigators that didcome enjoyed the firstmeeting that we had and areexcited for next week. As forthe investigators that didn'tshow up, said that they wouldcome the next week.As for the work in Teruel, thereis a lot of potential.
