8/19/2019 13 March El Clarín http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/13-march-el-clarin 1/7 We have talked before of the responsibility of sharing the gospel that comes automatically when we accept membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It says in D & C 88:81, "Behold, I sent you out to testify and warn the people, and it becometh every man who hath been warned to warn his neighbor." This scripture makes it abundantly clear that since we have been warned it is now our responsibility to warn others--for the rest of our lives. Mosiah reinforces this clear gospel responsibility when it says, "...and to stand as witnesses of God at all TIMES and in all THINGS, and in all PLACES that ye may be in, even until DEATH...." I have reflected often on exactly what this last scripture means for all of us. What does it mean to always be a witness, even until death. Well for starters I think we can assume that this is something from which we are never released. Secondly, I interpret this as saying that there is never a time when we should stop being missionaries--never. Thirdly, that we should be witnesses in all "things" suggests that no matter what activity we are involved with we should be able to discuss the gospel whether it is in our work, on transfers, during Preparation Day, during Church, during rides on the Metro, during walks to our areas, shopping in the grocery store, ordering lunch at Burger King, etc. etc. Being a witness in all places means there is no place on the earth where there are spirit children of God where we should stop being witnesses. In what way should we be witnesses? Without question we need to model the principles of the gospel in our behavior and the way we treat others. Disciples of Christ are kind, thoughtful, helpful, forgiving, responsible, mature, and dignified. People are watching us all of the time. It is crucial they see in us something different, something special--not that we are superior to any other person--but we should live our lives on a higher plane because we have been shown a "more excellent way." We should be bold in proclaiming our beliefs and testify that we know it s true to everyone who will listen to us. We should be knowledgeable about the scriptures and the principles of the gospel and share that knowledge with others. We should be consistent in the way we ive our lives. We should never be seen as hypocrites, shallow or petty. While this is especially true while we are specially commissioned emissaries of the Master in El Faro, it should hold true for the rest of our ives. Truly, we need to be like the Apostle Paul in saying, "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth." May we strive to always be the best witnesses we can of this priceless message of salvation is my prayer. Initiative

Message From Hermana Dayton

13 de Marzo de 2016El larín de El Faro

Initiative is recognizing and doing what needs to be done before beingsked to do it. Initiative is required to carry out every other character quality we have

udied including gratefulness, forgiveness, punctuality, diligence, joyfulness, etc. On thewall in our computer room we have a quote that reads, "Happiness is doing what needso be done, when it needs to be done, whether you like it or not." Jessie Evans Smith.

When we take the initiative and do what needs to be done, we do find happiness.Initiative is activated by our thoughts and words. We learn in the scriptures

hat we have the power to do good or evil and that we cannot serve two masters. Justs the world was created by thoughts and words then actions, we too create our livesy thoughts, words and actions. There are many ways we can take initiative. The

criptures tell us to "pray without ceasing, " to "lay up for ourselves treasures in heaven,"

o "do good to all men" and to "go ye into all the world preaching the Gospel."As missionaries, there are many ways we can demonstrate the characteruality of initiative by:Rising each day at 7:30, exercising vigorously, eating a well balanced breakfast, and

ollowing the missionary schedule.Studying the scriptures and following the words of the prophets.Asking forgiveness if we do something that offends our companion, investigator, a

ward member, etc.Sharing the gospel with all in the streets...trying to talk with every person we meet.Keeping our piso clean by doing items on the cleaning chart and going the extra miley doing more than our companionLooking for ways to serve others

Message From Hermana Dayton

13 de Marzo de 2016El larín de El Faro

Last week we had Transfers and there were many things that needed to beone in the mission home for the luncheon. President and I were so impressed by the

many missionaries who started setting the tables, getting water in glasses, and working inhe kitchen. Following the meeting many stayed and helped clean, taking down tablesnd chairs. At our Family Home Evenings, you missionaries offer to help serve

efreshments and clean up...without being asked. You see what needs to be done andhen you do it. We feel grateful for your examples of taking initiative in finding worthyonverts, serving those in your areas, and effectively teaching.

We love you and pray daily for you and for your investigators. We feelrateful for your goodness and all you do to bring the gospel to the people in Spain.

Much love, gratitude and admiration--

ermana Dayton

Hola presidente quierocontarle un poco nuestra

We had the baptism of Lydia,it went really well. We foundLydia when a member invitedher to come to a noche debarrio in November, sincethen she has progressed a lotand it has been so good tosee the changes in her. Shehas felt the spirit strongly.

The Miracle of Baptism

13 de Marzo de 2016El larín de El Faro

BAUTISSSSMO President!!!After we had our zone

enfoque, we prepared forAngels baptism! How fitting oa name cause he truly is anAngel! It was a beautifulbaptismal service. The joys ofseeing one of Gods childrenenter into a covenant withHevenly Father through thewaters of baptism never getsold! Through baptism, its howthe gates of heaven and

eternity are opened. And tohave helped Angel preparefor this day was a privilegeand honor. I truly find JOY inthe work.

We were greatly blessed wittwo baptisms-- a Colombianmother and her son. The waywe met this family isremarkable. We were simply

walking on the street, when aboy shouted, "elderes!"-- wesimply went over and startedtalking. Gloria (the mother),had recently moved here fromAlbacete, España, and has hamuch contact with themissionaries. In fact, two of hersons were baptizedthere(although now menosactivos)! Anyways, it was an

incredibly sweet experience inthe whole teaching process, and one I will never forget.Gloria and her son will surely bestrong members and help buildthe church.
