Second Sunday in Ordinary Time January 19, 2020
The Organ has been Sold
For about 11 months our organ has been posted on a website fre-
quented by those who are in search of pipe organs. The initial
early offers that we received did not pan out. In mid December
there was an interested party. I communicated back and forth
with the potential buyers through the inter-mediator. The parish
that was interested could only afford to pay $5,000. I went back
with a counter offer of $7,500, but that was too high. I was in-
formed by the company that posted our organ that pipe organs are
not selling at this time and he advised that I consider accepting
the offer of $5,000.
Things unfolded very quickly. An organ moving company was
going to be in the area and we needed to move quickly. In a mat-
ter of 2 days of accepting the offer the company arrived on
Wednesday January 8th. It took 7 hours to dismantle the instru-
ment. The dismantling, the moving, and the reassembling of the
organ is a costly project.
The church that bought our organ is named St. Philip’s Anglican
Church in Blacksburg, Virginia. I visited their website to check
them out. It looks like a small parish with a small church build-
ing. I am happy that our organ can benefit a parish that will be
able to make use of it. Although I was hoping to obtain more
money for the instrument, it has not been played for over 2 years.
I am happy that it has found a new home.
Fr. Tim

St. Catherine to Participate in a
Parish-Wide Survey
St. Catherine Laboure Parish will be participat-
ing in a diocesan wide parish survey about dis-
cipleship conducted by the Catholic Leadership
Institute. The parish needs your help.
Please assist us by participating in a 10-15 minute online survey
accessible at www.disciplemakerindex.com between Saturday,
February 8 and Sunday, March 1. The survey will ask you to
reflect on your own spiritual growth and enable you to provide
feedback on our parish’s efforts to help you grow. All responses
will be confidential and the parish will only receive information
about the community as a whole.
We are aiming to get the highest response rate possible. We will
receive the results this spring/summer at which time we will share
what we have learned with the entire parish.
Those who don't use a computer will have an opportunity to com-
plete the survey which will be placed in the parish bulletin the
weekend of February 8/9. A designated drop box will be avail-
able in the gathering space for you to return your survey.
Thank you for helping with this important project.
