Thomas Cueni, IFPMA DG, said that the industryrecognizes that a flexible approach is needed toaccommodate and support different R&D andaccess efforts. He spoke about options such asproposals for voluntary pooling of IP assets,including the decision of the Medicines PatentPool (MPP) to temporarily expand itsmandate toinclude health technologies related to COVID-19.He further added that the industry is open toexplore other innovative approaches andpartnerships to support R&D for new COVID-19medicinesandvaccinesandtoexpandaccess.
